[FRIAM] Fwd: “First do no harm”: My interview with Amazon and Goodreads on the future of Goodreads — paidContent

Amazon acquired Goodreads, http://www.goodreads.com/ .. a book review/chat/social site. Here's a post on the possible "evil" but it seems Amazon is sticking to its "I'm a retailer, stupid" line and I think I agree. http://paidcontent.org/2013/03/28/first-do-no-harm-my-interview-with-amazon-an

We're still all DVD and all Blue Ray. We get maybe 1 in 10 with a problem, usually a scratch. One potential issue may be an old DVD player. New features on DVDs can require at least a software upgrade to the player. Ed __ Ed Angel Founding Director, Art, Research, Technology and Scie

Gil - My wife and I reduced from 3 to 1 about a year ago since we were using streaming for most of our watching. We don't watch as many DVDs as we used to, so it is hard for me to be sure. My instinct is that the incidence of problems with DVDs *IS* higher than ever since we joined in 2005

I liked the look and feel of the Galaxy app, but I was unable to find one for Windows. As I said, the Chrome extension is really quite pretty. Much nicer than Google Reader. I expect that I'll be happy with it. I just wish I could make the font darker. (Tom, I don't have a problem with font readab

Agree w/ Russ. I found it quite confusing and really have no idea whether or not I've got it right. I tried just using their site, presuming there'd be a "webapp" like Google had. I couldn't find one so I enabled the chrome extension. That brought up a page that looked promising. There is a he

Thanks, Tom, This is related to one of my complaints. I see no way to ask Feedly (on Chrome) to upgrade itself. I went to the list of Chrome extensions, which has a link to the Feedly website. (When I run Feedly, I don't see a link to the Feedly website from the tab in which it is running.) On the

It's really very pretty. I've been using it both on Chrome and Galaxy S3. The problem I have with it on chrome is that the text is mainly in grey, and there seems to be no way to make it darker. Also, it's a bit confusing how to adjust the settings as you want them. Finally, there is Help and a For

This is a good example of Jeremy's "monetization of open source software" http://ashkenas.com/code-reads/ Its a personal code read, mainly for several projects he's created. I'm considering this for AgentScript once we get past our next goal: incorporation of a few professional models. --
