You can use 2.6.5 from current Debian. The dependencies hasn't changed
since years, so the package should work out of the box.

I don't know what a Debian menu looks like, but current Fvwm has
fvwm-menu-desktop which is a menu built from the XDG menu files
on your system.

Sure, I'll look today when I get some time. I had to redo that server
a while back (at least a couple of months) but it's possible that I
broke it and nobody has committed anything since then.
I really would like to get rid of CVS.

Certainly. I converted my Majordomo2 repository to git and dumped it on
github so that I'd have one less thing on that CVS server. Took only a
few minutes. You do need access to the raw repository
