In the directory of a disk, I have a search box at the top that takes
text. I am in Tiger latest. I have never been able to type something and
then go back and insert the cursor at the beginning of the first
character. The cursor happily goes anywhere else. Anyone had this

I've never experienced the exact problem you're having, but I had a
similar problem in the search window of Safari involving the inability
to place a cursor. In the Safari problem, I caused it myself by using
Monolingual to remove some of the language resources for non-English
languages,

The upgrade went very well. My machine came with Leopard on
it,Leopard 10.5.7. I'm not sure how the original owner got that on.
Eventually I may install 10.5.8 but only after I get a Leopard dvd
and after some of the bugs have been ironed out of 10.5.8.

There is nothing special about the power adapter. I had one go bad at
a company I used to work for and I just swapped in a spare one we had.
Unfortunately, I don't remember the specs. Look on the drive and see if
it says whether it needs a regulated power supply or not. And, did you
