That build page has very specific PPC builds listed, not a general
PPC. A G3, 2 G4s (for 7400 and 7450 based chips), a G5 and an intel

Here are the links for todays builds

2009-09-22 Thread Geke

Hey Gus,

Do you have PayPal?
This card would be good for my G4 (see other posts these days about
ATI Radeon) and the price is great.
So if you could ask the seller to send it to Europe instead of to you,
and I can pay you through PayPal (other transfers are too expensive),
all can be perfect!

Personally I avoid such vendors, they just don't know what they are

If it hasn't shipped the buyer could try clarifying it with the seller

AFAIK, B W's don't have an AGP slot, so it will not work at all.

According to Mactracker, it has 4 slots, 1 of which is a 66MHz one,
which is where a PCI Slot type video card would seem to work best.

Find out if its a PCI card or an AGP card. According to the eBay
correction, it would seem to be PCI.

Re: Video Driver Question.

2009-09-22 Thread Geke

Sorry, please ignore my earlier postings here, I was in a hurry and
confused: an auction for just such a card was finishing at the same
time.
It really looks to be a PCI card so you’re OK.

But I suspect I will have to install a driver for it as well. Any clue
where I could find such an animal? Does it come standard on the OS X
DVD? Will I have to reinstall OS X to get the driver to load? Or is
the driver already on my hard drive ready to run once I install the
card?
And to come back to your question: the card you bought is a Mac
version, so OS X should recognize it and automatically install the
right drivers.
I expect that you can simply plug in the card, start up the Mac, and
go to the System Preferences for Displays to choose the screen
resolution.

I was told this would also alleviate my video blacking problem.
It’s your lucky day!

Oh I know what I wanted to ask.. If the ATI Rage card is a PCI card
(though be a half height)(is that what they call it when its short?
half height.. don't recall) anyways... Would I be better off using
the Radeon card in my blue and white and shifting the ATI card over to

Re: Adapter for the OLD Monitors with use with VGA card.

2009-09-22 Thread Chance Reecher

Are we talking about the ADC port (digital) or the Apple monitor
connector (analog)?
There are simple little pin adapters for the latter that are very cheap.
As for converting a VGA signal to ADC, a signal conversion has to occur,
not just a connector adaption. I think there was an adapter made for
this, but it cost over 250$. In that case, just get a DVI videocard and
the Apple ADC to DVI adapter and save yourself at least 100$.

make one work as both. I have a dual 1Ghz MDD that I'm planning to
fix up, but that doesn't have the built-in USB 2.0 that the EyeTV
specs call for, just a USB 2.0 PCI card. Has anybody run an EyeTV
through PCI USB 2.0? What were your results? What video card were
you using? With how much VRAM? I'm trying to figure out how much
money I need to put together for upgrades, above and beyond the 26
monitor/TV. Or would I be better off buying a G5?Any and all
help/suggestions appreciated.

OK, MacTracker isn't telling me anything and a google search is less
than helpful.
