Re: G4 933 Quicksilver
Loved Yersinia's post and she is SO RIGHT! I thought I needed an Intel iMac to do something Dreamweaverish for web, and it turns out really I didn't, working with the naked code is much better anyway. So I could still be using that machine. I have kinda gotten hooked on Facebook though, and videos don't play too well on the G4. Oh, and it didn't have an airport card, so we had to plug the modem right into the box. That was a little funky, cuz the network was on my son's iMac then. So mebbe next time I just keep plugging along with the old Mac, whatever model it is. I have NEVER had any of the Macs die on me. I'm not kidding, I've taken them to be recycled, but they were still working. The first one was a Quadra - or an XVI I forget. The only trouble I ever had was with the G4 I didn't realize it wasn't sleeping, the fan was on 24/7, and came loose one day and banged around in the case. Then when I called Apple they wanted to hear that. I said, "you don't want to hear that, it's scary." Then when the tech heard it he yelled "turn it off, turn it off!" Week later the Mac was back, new fan, no troubles since. We forget how nice the Macs are, how time saving. When PC people talk about price, I just say, what about the price you pay for your time? Never mind that they live forever and the hard drives don't tend to crash, etc., etc. On Mar 12, 2011, at 9:04 AM, Baldassare Guzzo wrote: WOW, you sound uptight.
