Is this just a horrible Flash implementation, or is it the number of

Don't know. There's a Flash Uninstaller you can run to clear out any
residual Flash versions, and then reinstall the 10.1. I'm on a dual G5
PowerMac with 10.5.8 FlashPlayer 10.1b3. Pandora Radio seems to play
OK without panic for a few minutes. I'd suggest either using the Flash
Uninstaller and then reinstall 10.1, or reinstall the latest Combo
Update.

iMac KP

2010-03-15 Thread Vic Mabus
My nephew gave me his 800 MHz iMac--the one with the hemispherical base
and articulated arm. Because it's quiet, I use it for a music server
with a connected stereo system. It has a 320 Gb HDD and 1 Gb RAM (new
from OWC). I did AR of Tiger.

Everything seems to work great, except when listening to Pandora, it
will kernel panic. Sometimes it will run an hour or so, but will always
end in panic. Logs give no clues. My gut instinct tells me to suspect
Flash, due to its poor implementation on PPC Macs and heavy use on
pandora.com.

The latest Opera works best. Firefox will consume more and more memory
until it bursts into flames (a slight exaggeration).

Has anyone else had this trouble, and what did you do to fix it?

Thanx,
V Mabus

Have you tried the beta Flash 10.1 release?
It seems to be stable, and less of a resources hog than previous
releases.

On Intel, yes there is some improvement; however I was unable to find
that update for PPC.
