[Audyssey] redSpot and fighter jets question

hi i was playing redspot and i had 5 or 6 fighter jets so i ran out of missiles so i was just using the jet's gun. but it seemed ineffective and people kept shooting me and i kept losing jets till i ran out of jets was on the ground and got killed by someone. so how do i make the jets
