games in the last couple of days and the setups appeared to be identical.
Also, is there any advantage to firing one large salvo of torpedos
over firing several small salvos? The latter gives the obvious

Yes, they are. All starships are randomly placed on the starmap each
game. Although, starbases more or less stay in the same general area.
However, that said most Fed starships will land somewhere in there
asigned routes in
