Ron,
Just returned from a month of travel and wanted to congratulate you on yet
another great issue.
(I actually read it online from our hotel in Paris.)
All of the articles and announcements were informative and entertaining,
but you should get some special feedback on five of them.

Hi all, I have a copy of the Great Escape for Windows ready. My challenge
though is figuring out how to make it compatible with JAWS and Window-eyes.
When text output is required from my programs, it uses readonly edit boxes.
This means during game play JAWS announces edit before every action,
Hello, I certainly wouldn't mind configuring JAWS, in fact I wouldn't even
mind if JAWS said edit before everything in the game, as I could create a
dictionary file or a config manager file to handel edit and read-only
controls for only that game.

eddit boxes sound fine to me, I actually am a hal user myself, so if
you made the game directly output to Jaws or window eyes without an

Of course, another possible solution would be to just have the text output
Hi all, The Great Escape is now available for your desktop. Download it from
BrailleSoft.net under the DOS/Windows programs section. Don't forget to
download the Microsoft .NET Framework. This is also on our DOS/Windows Programs
page so you can easily find it if you aren't a Vista user, or
Hi Louis.
I'm afraid I'm having a miner trouble with the great escape. the initial
window eopens, then an eddit window pops up asking me if I want a hard game,
I choose the no button, then nothing seems to happen. Examining the
program window with hal's virtual focus mode I get the

Hi Chris,
I have a question of my own rather than an answer. Why do you use that
Nokia? Is it easy to use for a blind person? If that's the case, how so?

Hi,
I also tried the game just now and haven't had any problems. The
only thing that I'm finding slightly annoying is that after each move
is read out, I hear Edit as though everything's being written to an
edit box or something. For instance, You're in Room 1. Edit. The

Hi. Everything is being written to an edit box, however in future versions
SAPI will be included, and you will be able to select whether you want SAPI
or not as your synth. Also, the Source isn't available, but I can post it if
enough people are interested. The game was written in Basic4ppc.
I'd be interested in it, especially the code for the devices, are they
different then that of a pc?

Hi,
Not to my knowledge. I've actually pondered the idea of making a sound pack,
but a lot of the magic type sounds I find don't really sound like how I
imagine spells in Alter Aeon sounding. Actually, if you've heard of the
spell shard storm, I kind of imagine that sounding like a wind storm

Hi Louis.
Will this work for anything lower than Vista? And what kind of game is
it? I think I've heard of it a long time ago but can't remember much about
it. I'm still using Windows Me and jfw 4.0 so I can understand if it won't
work on my system. I just thought I'd ask before I go
