some are patrol, ie, you fly around several points.
some are transport, ie, you buy some goods and take them somewhere. Later on
you get lots of sorts of missions as well.
One idea that's been floated around the nielsbauer forums is the idea of
other trading style missions where someone asks you to fetch a specific
object for them, - but these haven't been implemented yet.

Are all missions combat missions? Hmm I guess so if you're in war but...
figured there'd be others.

Hi Zac.
see my reply to Liam for some ideas.
Again though, remember I love using the sensors and going on missions.
I'm sure someone with more patience for, and interest in
trading, -especially when the trade screen get's it's final access
tweak, could have a different method of doing things.
that's one thing imho which is so great about S4, you can play the game
differently depending upon your personality.

Hi,
I too am wondering about the best way to get 200K+ credits to get
myself a new ship. Is there anybody with more experience in S4 who
could make any suggestions here? Dark?
Thanks much,
Zack.

The other thing I have a rought time with is buying a new ship. I'm
federation, an dI'm going to assume that the next ship, which is a
corvet
is upwards of about 200 k credits. Seems like I'll be shooting up
ships for
a long while before I can upgrade. I like the game, but the combat is
extremely tedious, and I have a horibly short attention span.

Hi Liam.
Trading at the moment is the most lengthy process in the game
unfortunately,
it's possible, but to trade accurately takes time.
When you click on trade, you get the trade screen showing the goods
and
prices on whichever planet your currently on.
X1 x10 etc refer to the units of the good to be bought or sold, and
the buy,
sell, buy all or sell all will do the selected actions.
The only problem is, that screen only shows the goods for the selected
planet. In order to see the prices for the goods on the various
planets, you
need to close the screen, click once on another planet in the travel
screen
(to highlight that planet, but not a double click otherwise you'll
travel
there), then open the trade screen again.
this unfortunately makes planning trades a very slow process.
Visually, once you click on a commodity, the prices for that commodity
are
displayed next to the names of all the planets on the travel screen,
but
sinse a screen reader is focused on the trade screen you can't see
them.
I've suggested to Niels that he create a minimize button for the trade
screen so as to close the screen, but keep the selected goods prices
on each
planet, but this idea's stil in the works.
I must admit though, I've always personally been much more interested
in the
bounty hunting and mercinary practices of the game, so haven't
really
looked that deeply into trading.
Hth.
