[Audyssey] Manamon help/suggestions
Hello all, I want to say that I am enjoying the hell out of Manamon. This game takes me back to my old SNES/PSX RPG days of level grinding and the like. This game is very much like a J-RPG, and I mean this in the most positive definition of the word. I am not sure if this is an appropriate place to post this, but I have a couple of suggestions/questions for other players/the developer: 1. Is there an item/ability in the game that allows the player to more easily locate hidden items? 2. I do not suppose that there is a way to get the summary of an item's effects with one key press? As it stands right now, I have to press n for an item's physical description, and depending on the item/equipment, I have to press other keys for additional information, e.g. h for determining how much hp an herb restores. It would be nice if we only had to press one key to receive all of the information about a given item, e.g. if I press n on the herb, the game would provide me the physical description along with the in-game effects of the item. 3. Is there any possibility of implementing a coordinates announcement system, e.g. if I press a key, the game tells me that I am at such-and-such coordinates. This would be useful for making notes and the like where hidden items are and the like. 4. Change logs would also be nice. I am one of those odd fellows that likes to read up on the recent changes to a game. 5. I am hoping that you folks at VGStorm will add additional Manamon and content to the game. 6. Speaking of content, is there ever a point where encounters with wild manamon will drop random items after a battle? 7. Has anyone at VGStorm ever considered licensing their game engine? I am aware that the game's source is BGT, but I think it would be cool to be able to make use of an existing game engine. Just a thought. Thanks in advance -- Justin M. Re: [Audyssey] question about manamon navigation
You have a bread crumb system. Buy some fliars from one of the shops, then you can write something and drop it on the ground at various points to serve as a landmark since it'll produce an audible cue. I haven't needed to do this yet but it is there. -Original Message- From: Alex Wallis Sent: Monday, July 25, 2016 7:12 AM To: gamers@audyssey.org Subject: [Audyssey] question about manamon navigation Hi list, I am not sure if the manamon creators will respond to this, but I have a question, I have read the documentation so I am fairly sure the answer is no, but is there a key for telling you if you have visited a location before or a coordinates system? if not, is this just because they haven't been put in or is it down to a limitation of the BGT? I really feel that the current navigation system isn't adequate particularly for large maps, e I have got to floor 2 of the minereff tunnel, it took me at least 4 or 5 hours to get off the first floor, and I only found the second by chance, and I certainly couldn't find it again easily, and now on the second I am again wondering in circles, keep ending up at the ladder to the first floor. I would also like to see some system for controlling how frequently you are attacked, its quite boring being attacked, having to hit enter to open the combat menu to be able to then select the flee option. I know a game is supposed to be challenging but the navigation simply isn't fit for purpose for very large maps and this is getting beyond challenging its getting to the annoying and not well thought out stage. I actually don't think listening for tones to stop to tell you about a new passage is a good system anyway because it can be hard to tell if a tone has stopped or if you have missed a passage and even if you find a passage if you have been in it before, I do know there are two types of tones and I have experimented with both, I would like to see a coordinates system, a visited location key to see if you have been there before, and maybe even a breadcrum system so you can mark locations. sorry for the rant but I would like to see some sort of improvements to assist with navigation, the game has been very well thought out and designed though. Re: [Audyssey] Manamon help please
Hi. It's not about pressing one key. In the game you navigate by hitting the arrows to move in the cardinal directions, just like in many audio games like super egghunt, entombed or the old deacout game. When you hear a wind sound, it is a wall (this is a little confusing if your used to wind sounds being space but you can have tones instead). If you ram into the wall you have a knock sound which is what I believe you've been doing. Generally how you avigate areas is find a wall and walk along it. So if you hear a wall to the right, you know to go up and down until you hear a wall above or below, then you walk along etc. You can also hear objects, people and things around you. some are on walls and you can pass through to different areas, doors make a continuous door slamming sound, new areas have a shimmering sound etc. Some are objects or people you can just walk up to and either examine or talk to or battle with, you get a different sort of rubbery sound when you hit something you can interact with. Hth. I don't recall the directions from your room to the next house exactly, but you need to go from your bedroom into your house, and then out into the first village and to the house next door where the researccher is, talking to people along the way for information and background. Hth. I haven't heard it yet, but there is a podcast on manamon which I believe goes into the navigation system in detail, and might help. Find it here: http://orinks.net/uncategorized/lets-play-manamon-part-1/ Hth. dark. - Original Message - From:To: "Gamers Discussion list" Sent: Monday, July 25, 2016 1:52 AM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Manamon help please Hi, So the only sound I hear is a solid thump. I am guessing that is not the knocking sound you were talking about? Is the only way to find the door by using the down arrow key? Or do I use the other ones as well? I am sorry if these questions seem dumb, but there really isn't much in the manual, and there isn't a lot of feedback in the game at least at this point. Since I am for some reason stuck in my room. Re: [Audyssey] Manamon help please
Hi. The "knock knock" sound michael means isn't the same one when you run into a door, it is a door slamming sound you need to find. Check the learn game sounds menu. Generallyb the way the game works is you need to follow walls looking for doors ad openings and listening out for objects to interact with, so generally if you here knocks when your walking your probably ramming into something :D. Hth, the game rocks when you get into it. dark. - Original Message - From:To: "Gamers Discussion list" Sent: Monday, July 25, 2016 1:18 AM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Manamon help please OK so I want to make sure I understand. Hi. I explained about the room. I don't remember the direction exactly but you should be able to find it by going towards the door slamming sound. As to your classmate, you need to go to the next house along and talk to the professor and her daughter, you'll get your first manamon there too and have your first battle. Hth. Re: [Audyssey] Manamon questions
Hi. The walls in the game make wind sounds rather like entombed corridors, though if you prefer the paladin of the sky style tones for walls you can set that in options. To get out of your room you need to find the door, you can find this by either tracing the wall or listening for a slamming sound and moving towards it. I would suggest you look at the learn sounds menu to find out what the wall sounds are, what the sounds for hitting an object are etc. All the best, DArk. - Original Message - From:To: Sent: Sunday, July 24, 2016 11:26 PM Subject: [Audyssey] Manamon questions Hi, I keep hitting the down arrow, and it sounds like I'm moving, but it's never letting me out of my room.
