The menus are pretty easy to function, though it can get a little complicated if you're selecting a high-profile match type. Creating your superstar isn't really accessible, though, which is why I'm glad to have a girlfriend. Haha. As far as gameplay goes, you really couldn't ask for a simpler yet more powerful system. The triangle button is your run button, and pressing it without adding a direction on the D-pad will make you run directly at your opponent. Convenient, ain't it? Grapples are even easier. Simply press circle and a directional button to initiate one of four grapple types. There are seven total grapple types in the game, but every superstar has only four out of those seven. Makes them all different, you see. Also, a little sound plays when you get your special! Hurray for unneccessary but convenient noises! Using your special is as simple as knowing the situation your opponent needs to be in, then pressing the L button if you're playing the PSP version, or the L1 button on the PS2. As for the season mode, well, it happens to have superstar voiceovers, which means cutscenes we can actually understand. Starting a season is easy, and continuing one is even easier. One last thing I should note is that the PSP version has no commentary during matches. However, though commentary is convenient, it isn't essential to play the game. I've done just fine without it. I will actually be doing a game demonstration of the PSP version soon, and I plan to put it on my web site in a new section I'm creating revolving around accessible gaming. Hi Ari. If your brother want a really cool game, he should try Coded Arms. It's the best 3D shooter game I have seen. I have only try the game for about 5 minuts, so I don't know how accessible it is. But I don't think you can play it without sighted people. Best regards Søren. Re: [Audyssey] Games on the PSP
Hi Brandon, I don't know if you ever tried this, but one WWF game that for me was not quite fun and that friendly, in terms of commentary and accessibility, was WWF War Zone, which I tested on the PS. My friend then bought WWF Attitude for his PS in 2001, and that was real improvement and very fun. I must actually make a plan to see all these new games, I actually haven't seen my console gaming friend for about four years, because we stay so far from each other! You mention Fight Night, my friend had Knockout Kings, he reckons Fight Night has been made harder than KK ever was (not because of accessibility, but in terms of moves). Re: [Audyssey] Games on the PSP
One thing I'm worried about is that you see, in some games, less and less game sounds. I agree with Brandon about menues, you need a sighted friend to guide you through them until you memorise them or write them down. About less game sounds though, my friend had a baseball game where you'd sort of know when to hit because you could hear the pitch, but now he says with the new version their's no pitching sound. Also, I could play FIFA 99 on the PC, my dad just needs to start the matches for me, because you need to do that with the mouse. How I sort of used to play, is you know where a person plays in real life, for example, when I hear the commentator say 'Vieir,' I'd know that, since V plays central midfield, that's where I am, then I would know that I'd sort of be OK, no matter in which direction I pass. What's also good is how the commentator gets excited when you're near the goal. Running is a bit of luck, since you can't see where defenders are, but it's still fun to play. In the latest FIFA's, they've taken the sound of tackling away, and made the ball sound so soft, that I really can't play it. I actually do have a Sega Megadrive, and I agree that the WWF games are very easy to play, it's just a question of having someone to tell you what the sounds mean, and then you can really enjoy yourself. My friend also had Mortal Combat 3 on the Sega, and that was really cool. I stopped consoles, until my brother got this model, so I'm really excited to get back into console gaming. The only thing I regret though is that games for the Nintendo Entertainment System and Sega were so cheap, that it was OK if you bought one which turned out not to be so accessible. Nowdays with PS2 and PSP, games are so expensive that their's no room for making a mistake, and I can't even try the games out before I buy (with Nintendo and sega, their was this lovely games shop that we always used to go to, with friendly staff who had the patients of saints!) I used to try 3 or 4 games before deciding on one! Ari ___ Gamers mailing list .. Well you're not supposed to fight him. If you do, and won't get a second chance if you have to flee. You should answer the question he poses. Re: [Audyssey] stoneback tomb
You're thinking of a different undead from what I was. I mean the undead swordsman in the alcove not far from the entrance to the tomb. He's guarding one of the four cubes, and you do have to fight him on order to get it. You seem to be thinking of the one who asks you the riddle, who was probably a mage judging from his description. He does give you a cube, but all you do is answer his riddle correctly, and there's a big hint right there in the riddle. It ain't pretty when the pretty leaves you with no place to go. Re: [Audyssey] Games on the PSP
Well, Midway Arcade Treasures: Extended Play for the PSP contains arcade versions of Mortal Kombat 1, 2, and 3. That's really what I got it for. There are about 20 other games there, but the Mortal Kombats are by far the most playable of the bunch. Lord of the rings is perfectly playable if you're willing to learn a few things. I've already recorded a game demonstration of that one, and I will be putting that up on my site today. The only one of those you could consider unplayable if you felt like it is the GTA game, but I got it for one real reason. The GTA series has always been one of my favorite series to mess around in. Re: [Audyssey] Games on the PSP
This, my friend, is why I have a gamespot account. Well, one of the reasons. Haha. At least this way I can listen to actual gameplay videos. Certainly it's not as good as trying out the game, but it is enough to give me a general idea of playability or lack thereof. - Original Message - From: ari [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Saturday, August 05, 2006 8:50 AM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Games on the PSP One thing I'm worried about is that you see, in some games, less and less game sounds. Re: [Audyssey] Games on the PSP
Oh yes. War Zone was a WWF Classic. Ah, the days when you only had 18 characters to choose from. Haha. Attitude was better, and had 30 or so wrestlers on its character list. As for fight night and knockout kings, your friend is right. KK is a button masher through and through. It requires no skill to beat the game. Fight night, however, is tougher. You have to deal with ducking, weaving, blocking, parrying, hooks, jabs, uppercuts, haymakers, and so on and so forth. It's really quite fun though. - Original Message - From: ari [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Saturday, August 05, 2006 8:57 AM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Games on the PSP Hi Brandon, I don't know if you ever tried this, but one WWF game that for me was not quite fun and that friendly, in terms of commentary and accessibility, was WWF War Zone, which I tested on the PS. I don't think sound is slowly draining from sports games because the developers wish to take it out. I believe it is because these days, everyone strives for a television-like presentation. You certainly don't hear the ball being thrown on TV, for instance. - Original Message - From: jack scrimshaw [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Saturday, August 05, 2006 11:33 AM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Games on the PSP we ad that a few years back when all the shops were demoing playstations. I was going to ask you for that. Yours was the one I no longer have thanks to computer crashes. Yeah, two of them. I have had this happen twice now, and that is when I finally get to the room with the chest in it I defeat the sorceress and get the mask and there is no mention of the arch to get to the second level. now I am thinking that both times I have picked up something from the undead that I shouldn't have, I only saw the arch the one time and that was with only one stone cube. so what am I not doing right? Re: [Audyssey] Games on the PSP
grunt grab groan ouch! is the floor okay? warzone was the master of the wrestling games at one time. atitude was okay i guess it had more characters but jasus i hated shane o'mac. - Original Message - From: Brandon Cole [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Saturday, August 05, 2006 6:02 PM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Games on the PSP Oh yes.
I agree with that. Reaism is the key. After all we wouldn't want to here the sound of fifa soccer 95 these days would ya. When i buy a sports game let's say again my game of choice madden 2006 i buy it to simulate football on my ps2 when it suits me as its on bloody late here in the u k. - Original Message - From: Brandon Cole [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Saturday, August 05, 2006 6:34 PM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Games on the PSP I don't think sound is slowly draining from sports games because the developers wish to take it out. Re: [Audyssey] Accessible Platform Game: Moosic
I have downloaded this game but my friend ran it and it's saying something about it needs some other files to run like Python2.4 and such. It seems to be the only version at Sourceforge.net and if anyone gets this up and running please let us know. Thanks. *** REPLY SEPARATOR *** On 8/5/2006 at 11:56 PM AudioGames wrote: (from AudioGames.net): Moosic is an open source audio platform game.
