[Audyssey] Accessibility tips wanted in fantasy game

2007-06-27 Thread Dark
Hi.

As people will probably know, I'm a huge fan of the Chronicals of Arborell,
http://www.arborell.com/

A site which contains several extremely well written gamebooks and stories,
with a full rpg and other game things in developement.

Wain Densely, the Gm is absolutely fantastic about accessibility, and at the
moment is trying to make the site more accessible with text versions of maps
etc, as well as producing an html version of the card game. He's requested that
people please send him in put with comments and suggestions about screen reader
accessibility, so that he can improve things in the future.

As I said, these are probably my favourite gamebooks on the net, and the
fiction is extremely great as well. also, i've rarely come across a gm of an
online game esque thing who's so good about accessibility, so comments and
support for him would deffinately be a good thing all round, so I hope people
will take the time to check the chronicals out.

Beware the Grue!

Dark.

[Audyssey] Leather Goddesses

2007-06-27 Thread Kathy Seven Williams
Hello, K7 here. I'm new on the list and relatively new to gaming. I started
Leather Goddesses back in Dos Days, but never finished the game.Seems I'm stuck
in the swamp surrounded by man eating plants if memory serves which it hasn't
for years. Anyhow, I really want to play it on my Pacmate. I've got ZipCe and
can open the game and get past the disclaimers to where it says to hit ENTER to
begin the game, and I can't , for the life of me, find a way to Hit Enter
since hitting Enter doesn't do the trick. I've got several 5Z games I really
would like to play if I can find a way to get them to work on the Pacmate. Any
help?

And as long as I took sword in hand to tap out a message, I was trying to get
onto discworld.atuin.net which is the discworld (Terry Pratchet) Moo. I can log
on, but the telnet client I have for the pacmate only sees the first part of
each line and I hate to make a half-hearted go of it. The telnet clients I
have on the PC aren't much better with JAWS. Navigation back and forth, to pick
up name spelling and so on is just really hard if not impossible.Again, any
help?

Thanks much!
K7

Hi Charles,
(Evil grin.) Yep... Let's just say I've known a few blind gamers, who we
will leave nameless, that didn't read their game manuals.

Hi,
Yes, that's what I get when I try to run the game.
Another question, in Shades of Doom i don't get surround sound only stereo. Any
ideas why?
All the best and thanks,

2007-06-27 Thread Søren Jensen
Hi Kathy.

As mud client I'll recommend Mush Client. You can get it from the following
link:
http://www.gammon.com.au/files/mushclient/mushclient402.exe
You can also get from Jaws scripts to the program, but I can't remember
where to get them. But I can send them to you if you want them.
This client is only for Windows and Linux. I don't know any clients wich
works on PDA's and Packmate.

Best regards Søren.

I went with singular and I get full service everywhere accept a few places
and also I have the nilkia n75 and it is very accessible with talks software
so you should consider it doesn't read with verizon however and the nice
thing about eh nilkia n75 you can create contacts, read text messages, and
go on thent and check your battory life and much more so that's what I have
been doing and plus I got my general license.

Hello all it's Jason I just wanted to let you know that I like the game
 too.
great work with it I hope we have more versions of this game in the
 future
maybe you can make another wild west game wher you have old western towns
where you can gamble, dance, and just do that western thing. I also
 want
games in the western game as well for instance gun slinging contests,
 horse
racing, and a game called cowboys versus indieans if possible I think it
 would be cool.
Any wayh keep up the good work Che and all I had to do everyone is
 download
the latest version of direct x and the game works perfect and che your
instructions were explaniatory so for those out there who don't
 understand
his instructions read them and follow them carefully, they are not
 conplicated.
 anyway that's all for now.

  Hi Dark,
Thanks much for that mini review of the demo, I'm really glad you like
 it.
I feel a bit like Sally Field now.
Smiley sticker to anyone that gets that joke.
Anyhow, regarding the atmospheric effects, that isn't a bad idea, maybe
 I
could add a combo box to the track editor where people could select from
different settings for their tracks with appropriate sounds playing
depending on what they choose, I'll look into that.
You are the first person that has reported opening the bonus track,
congratulations, did you have to install extra ports to do it, or just
 the
default single port? Also, I'm curious what kind of course time you are
getting, I'll have to race it again myself and see what I'm pulling. As
stated before, in the full version if you have web posting turned on,
 your
times will be posted to the web.
Regarding the mouse, stick with it man, I know it takes some practice,
 but
it will pay off in the long run. Although some beta testers can turn
blistering track times with the keyboard such as Karl, I really think
 the
mouse is a superior input device for the game, especially when you get
 to
the truly difficult tracks. If you think the bonus track is hard, you
haven't seen anything yet, the beta testers can attest to the chalenge
 of
some of the higher class tracks.
You may want to adjust the sensitivity of your mouse, and be very
 careful
not to pull back on the mouse in the curves, otherwise you will
 decelerate
after leaving the curve. To be safe, you may want to push up slightly
 as
you exit curves. It is importnt to get used to picking up the mouse
 and
moving it so it can be reset without affecting game play.
I am considering doing a q and ay on vip Conduit dot com for anyone
 that
has questions about Rail Racer in the next few days, so if you want to
participate, head over to www.vipConduit.com and get a free membership
 and
download their voice chat software, which is the best out there in my
opinion, and it is custom made for the blind.
Anyhow, I'm off to put the final touches on the full release so we can
 all
race against each other, this is gonna be a blast gang, and from the
 sounds
of it, you better watch out for mister Dark, he's trouble.
  Later,

[Audyssey] Rail Racer ordering, please help me out

2007-06-27 Thread Davy Kager
Hi,

The reason that I throw this to the list is that there might be someone who
can help me.
Here's my story:
I don't have a creditcard, and I'm not going to get one in the near future.
I'd like to order Rail Racer (or any other audiogames), but as you
understand I can't pay with a creditcard. So I thought to be very clever and
I made a PayPal-account. But stop... That uses a creditcard as well! Now, am
I the only one without such a card or so? And more important: how to get
that games paid?

Any help will be appreciated very much!
Thanks.

[Audyssey] USA Games News 6/27/2007

2007-06-27 Thread Thomas Ward

USA Games

News

6/27/2007

Introduction

Hello gamers,
Welcome to another edition of the USA Games news. Many of you have
eagerly been
awaiting news on our 2007release Montezuma's Revenge. Unfortunately,
there have
been some major changes in my personal life which has set back the
release date
for the summer public beta of Montezuma's Revenge. I felt that I should
explain
these changes before actually getting to the news about Montezuma's
Revenge.
Late in April of this year my wife and I found an apartment in
Millersburg Ohio
which was much better than the residents we were currently living in.
So we decided
to put down a deposit on the apartment, and move in our new apartment
in early June.
As a result most of May was spent packing and moving our things from
our old residents
to the new apartment. Then, most of June has been spent unpacking our
things, putting
things away, and hooking up all of our appliances and equipment.
If the move wasn't bad enough my custom built desktop computer, which I
use for
software development and sound editing, unexpectedly died during the
move. As it
turned out some of the chips on the motherboard died. So I ended up
replacing the
computer's case, motherboard, and processor. The computer's hardware is
now fixed,
but I am still trying to get new licenses for my copy of Windows Vista
since Microsoft
has a policy of one key per computer, and my copy of Vista is barely a
couple of
months old.
Needless to say with a combo of computer troubles and move USA Games
has been unable
to make much progress on Montezuma's Revenge, STFC 2.0, and Raceway.
However, there
is some news we can share.

Montezuma's Revenge

We at USA Games are happy to announce Montezuma's Revenge public beta 1
is almost
ready for release. The core engine is pretty much complete, and the
game is quite
stable. At this time the game features one level, but we are working on
scripting
and compiling level 2. Once level 2 is complete and tested the game
demo will be
posted for download.
Montezuma's Revenge is the first classic side-scroller which has been
fully adapted
to audio. Powered by Microsoft's DirectSound 9.0C media library
Montezuma's Revenge
offers a rich audio environment of dark and eerie sounds. You will hear
the sounds
of fast moving spiders, hissing rattle snakes, burning torches,
rattling bones,
dripping water, swinging ropes, and an eerie wind blowing in the
distance. As you
travel the temple corridors you will hear the sounds of jangling keys,
rattling
gold coins, and other items you can collect for extra points.
Every level in public beta 1 has been designed based on the Atari 5200
version of
Montezuma's Revenge including: burning ropes, walls of fire, darkened
rooms, vanishing
platforms, and more.
If you wish to keep an eye out for the release of this breakthrough
release of Montezuma's
Revenge visit us on the web at
http://www.usagames.us.
We will be updating our site shortly to reflect changes in the release
schedule,
releases, trailers, and news.

Final Conflict

Over the last couple of months a few of you have asked us what we will
be doing
about Star Trek Final Conflict, (STFC,) version 2.0. We've received
allot of suggestions
from Trek fans out there suggesting everything from a Next Generation
game to a
all out Deep Space 9 style game. In truth both ideas are good, but some
suggestions
are just not practical from a programming standpoint.
For example, a good number of Trek fans suggested they would like to
see the U.S.S.
Prometheus, (seen in Voyager Message In A Bottle,) appear in STFC 2.0.
While I
agree the Prometheus is one of the coolest ships to have appeared on
Star Trek it
is rather impractical to include from a development standpoint. First,
there is
very little technical data on the ship which means I would have to
improvise using
allot of assumptions which would not make the game very realistic.
Second, the
ship features multivector assault mode which would be extremely
difficult to program
in any case. For these reasons alone it is impractical to use it in
STFC 2.0.
Others have suggested they would like to see a purely Deep Space 9
game. Personally,
I think the idea itself is cool. The Defiant is one of my favorite Star
Trek starships,
the dominion would be a cool enemy to fight, and I would have a ready
made story
for the game. However, this suggestion doesn't come without
difficulties and problems.
As most of you know in STFC 1.0 we included the Defiant in the game.
Unfortunately,
that decision resulted in many unresolved bugs. Bugs that would have to
be resolved
before a Deep Space 9 game would be possible using the Defiant.
One of the most notable is when the Defiant is cloaked enemy starships
can follow
the Defiant but not fire at it. Unfortunately, that is not how the
cloaking device
is suppose to work. It is suppose to make the Defiant completely
invisible to

I recently gotten a new computer with Vista. So when the talk about Vista

I tried to install Ten Pen. So I was wonder if that was on the list. And
if anybody knows of making it work on my new OS or is that on the Chart too?

 Hi Che,
Both Troopenum and Pipe 2 do not require the .Net framework so
installing .Net 1.1 wouldn't help in this case.
Justin hasn't been forth coming about what security system he uses to
pack his sounds for Pipe and Troopenum, but from what I have been given
to understand it doesn't work with Vista.
By the way, in case anyone wanted to know VB 6 was used for Troopenum
 and Pipe.

 Che wrote:
Try installing .net framework 1.1 on top of 2.0 or 3.0, whatever you
already have. This has fixed the startup problem for Rail Racer at
 least.

Re: [Audyssey] whip crash track class3

2007-06-27 Thread Bryan Peterson
One thing I've noticed about that track is that it seems nearly impossible
to get up enough speed to use a Nitro. Granted I can still win it fairly
easy as long asI don't screw up the jumps, so I'm not complaining.

 Thanks buddie.
I'll try and find the time. Getting my new computer un and running and my
Strat baseball League gives me none, but I'll try.

 Ok now wait a second

There is a track called Whip Crash.

NO No there be no Whipping Crash around here.
No one is going to beat Crash, instead I will beat myself.
Where is the link to get the game. I want to departure location so I
 can
 beat off
 the local competition.

 Hi,

That whip crash track for class3 is a really tough one even at the
 first
difficulty level. But if I can get up to rail racer pro on that one
 then
 I
should be able to tackle any track.

Re: [Audyssey] whip crash track class3

2007-06-27 Thread Che
Make sure you adjust your gear ratio for that track, 1.2 isn't the best
ratio for all tracks, it takes some experimentation to find the best ratio,
depending on your driving style and the tightness of the track.
  Good luck,
  Che
