Hi Dark,

Agreed. Caring for his daughter is an understandable reason but not an
excuse for not answering e-mails, switching to downloads instead of
cds, etc. He doesn't even have to add a license key to his games,
because if he writes a good shopping cart in something like php he can
store the setup files somewhere secure on his server, and when payment
is complete the script will send the user a temporary link that will
expire after a couple of days. This would automate both payment and
delivery leaving him free to care for his daughter if that is the
case. At the very least he could have informed the community, his
customers, of the situation instead of remaining silent for the last
eight years.

On 1/21/12, dark d...@xgam.org wrote:

Also, if his daughters' condition has progressed to the point where he

games

abandonware?

Finally, it really! wouldn't be so hard for him to setup downloads for
the

games, rather than this cd ordering business, also far less work for
him sinse he'd no longer have to actively send out copies of the games.

While caring for his Daughter might be a reason, it's not an excuse.

[Audyssey] 2012 Top 25 List for Gamers who are Blind

2012-01-22 Thread Eleanor Robinson

Hi gamers

Our Top 25 Lists for 2012 have been published. In response to the
comments made on Audyssey, we revised our criteria and have added a
listing of online games. Although we don't feel we can adequately rank
them, we listed them in one location so people who want to try online
games can know where to go.

The ranking criteria can be found at the end of the page. We adhere to
the criteria, and where it appears that a website is not in the order
you would expect, try to explain the reason they are in that location.
It is a lot of work, but we feel we add value in our analysis of the
sites and their offerings as well as giving you an easy way to get
directly to the best sites for gamers who are blind.

Please check the list out at our website, www.7128.com and select the
Top 25 button at the bottom of the page. Enjoy!

HI,

Some suggestions:

1. Listen to a walk thru that Valiant 66 did. The link is

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13968355/swamp%20playthrough.mp3

The walk thru is from an earlier version, but should help you a lot.

2. In the swamp folder, there are 3 files you need to check out;

Readme.txt - gives you the main keystrokes you will need.
Changelog.txt - gives you more up to date info you will need. Plus how some
things work.
keyconfig.ini - gives you all the keys you will need. you can modify this
file if you wish.

disregard the section on you and a injured person. That scenario is for
single player and that part is not developed and is not even in the current
1.8 version.

3. While in the game, you can chat with others and ask them questions as you

go.

4. The entrance for the safe zone is 41 south. This is your second number
when checking coordinates. The coordinate system is where the 1st number is
your X axis, or east - west. The 2nd number is the Y axis, or north - south.

So in the upper north west corner is 1,1. You move east, and the first
number gets bigger. Go south, and the second number gets bigger.

5. You get experience and rep from killing zombies.

6. You get ammo, weapons, and armor from 2 sources. When you kill a zombie,
it leaves a corpse. After a bit of time, which is random, it will be
swarming with a fly sound. Walk over it and it will give you something. The
second method is to buy it in the safe zone. This costs rep. So if you don't

need, or want something, donate it and increase your rep to buy those things

you want.

7. Stand in the safe zone and check out all your keys. Make sure you know
what, and where they are. One very helpful thing in the beginning is to use
your beacons. This will help you find the safe zone.

8. When you start to loose health, go to the safe zone and exit. come back
and you will be at full health.

HTH.

Hi list:

i was wondering if there is anyone would could help a true newbie with the
swamp game get me started?

I read the instructions for the game and it said that when I start I am in a

hallway with my mate.

However when I start the game I am in the safe zone and I do not know where
to go. I turn on my sonar and I hear beeps but do not fully understand on
how to get out of the area and start shooting.

The instructions are vague. How do I pick up things and how do I get better
stuff and reputation?

Any help for a true new newbie would be appreciated.

Sincerely,

Re: [Audyssey] 2012 Top 25 List for Gamers who are Blind

2012-01-22 Thread dark

Hi eleanor.

nice list indeed, it's particularly good to see some sites like driftwood
and Aprone's get a mention as they deserve.

There are however a couple of points.

firstly, Paulosoft, the makers of airik the clerric have changed their name
and their site to www.breakerbox.games. com. they have also (as of december
of last year), released another game, a cartoon 3D cutesy spy adventure
called Curt wolf which has graphics and mouse control but is also fully
audio accessible. I haven't tried it yet myself, but it sounds awsome. so
you might want to either change that entry, or at the least update the link
so that people don't get a 404.

Also, though Blind adrenaline itself in terms of it's site and rail racer
haven't been updated sinse 2009, work goes on constantly on the cardroom
with weekly tournaments and other events. Just this year Yacht, the game
best known as Yahtzee was added, along with the omahar varient of Texus
holdem poker. i also think Spades was added earlier in the year too. So it
is in a very different state to say Draconis that really hasn't! shown any
life sinse 2009.

then, Nielsbauer actually have two acessible games, sinse smugglers 3 is
also accessible. They are however tyring to get interest in their Empires
and dungeons game, and if they get enough from the eyeball defficient
community they will make an access mode for it, so you might want to put a
more prominant announcement on there.

Lastly, not that it particularly matters, but the audiogames.net db is
actually up to 392 games now, though sinse that'll probably be going up this
week as I add some pages that isn't a major factor, I just thought I'd
mention it :d.

I'm actually looking forward to the big 400, which hopefully should be soon.

Beware the grue!

dark.

2012-01-22 Thread Jeremy Kaldobsky
The link between loot and killed zombies has been a persistent rumor for quite
a while now. Many believe that killing zombies will generate lootable corpses
in the same spot after some unknown amount of time. In reality, corpses and
zombies are completely separate.

Both use the same spawning method, but they are independent. Each time a
zombie is killed, a new one is spawned somewhere randomly that is some minimum
distance from any current players. Each time someone picks up loot, a new one
is spawned randomly with the same rule. This system encourages players to
explore because the less traveled places will slowly accumulate uncollected
loot.

Zombies slowly wander and are also pulled toward players and sounds so they
don't collect in exactly the same way, but if an area has been left alone for
long enough, zombies will begin collecting there as well. This is why we
sometimes find large piles of loot seemingly guarded by big groups of zombies.
This coincidence might be at the root of the rumor. I hope this helps clarify
things. :)

Have we verified that loot corpses
have anything to do with dead zombies?
I'm not sure that's anything but an urban legend.
 Jeremy?

Hey Clemant and all.

Holy cow, all I can say is I agree 100%, if the rest of the story is this way
this will really be lots of fun. Have you had anyone give you the short
version of what is happening in the first part of the story? Might be kind of
cool to have someone do that, I may do this myself.

Thanks for the link.

Game on.

They get locked when you start stage 25. It gives you a yes or no dialogue
before you continue, the top option is no.

And yeah, shielding items really don't help much in that stage, haha. I mean
you'd have to have tons of them. The super steel plate can be taken out with
one attack. And what's really bad is when he weakens it with one of his
attacks first, and then starts a more powerful attack that continues on and
on and does tons of damage if you get hit, and the shield breaks half way
through that attack. I haven't managed to beat it yet. If anyone's found any
strategies that work for beating him, I'd really like to hear them please.
With as low as my HP is, I kind of need every single advantage I can get,
esepcially since I'm also low on healing potions.

Re: [Audyssey] The Explorer and the Mystery of the Diamond Scarab.

2012-01-22 Thread Phil Vlasak

'The Explorer and the Mystery of the Diamond Scarab' Launch
Published by: BillGameBase on 24th Mar 2011 | View all blogs by BillGameBase

On Friday 25 March 2011, Royal Dutch Visio, Centre of Expertise for blind
and partially sighted people will host the worldwide launch of a unique game
for the Wii game computer. For the first time, children with and without
visual impairment can play together on an equal level, thanks to the game
called The Explorer and the Mystery of the Diamond Scarab. The Mayor of
Haren - no less - will be present at the launching of this game, which will
take place at Visio Education Centre in Haren. Mayor Boumans will compete
against the best player from Visio.

Visio supports, encourages and counsels visually impaired people by
providing various courses, training and programmes. In addition to the
positive effect of playing unhindered with peers on an equal level, this
game also contributes to improving motoric functions and physical
coordination.

International introduction
In addition to the school in Haren, four other Visio schools will be
involved in the introduction of this game. A school in Sarajevo (Bosnia)
will also participate in the launch via the partnership with Visio
International. Via Skype connection, the various sites will be connected
with the main site in Haren so they will experience the official
presentation live. Before the launch, all the schools will work on a
week-long subject: Egypt. The education institutes already have contact with
each other via Skype and Facebook. See www.visio.org/Wii-game

Development
At the end of 2008 the collaboration partners - MAD multimedia, Principal
Blue, TNO and Royal Dutch Visio - had decided to give the concept of Serious
Gaming a new dimension. Within two years and with a subsidy from Innovative
Action Programme in Groningen (Dutch: IAG2) the first official Nintendo Wii
game was developed for children with or without visual impairment. The
process used for this development is called co-creation, a technique in
which the end user is involved in the development of new products and
services. Visually impaired, blind and full sighted children contributed to
the content and form of this game, while physical therapists, exercise
specialists and teachers monitored the motoric aspects.

The outcome
In this game you play the role of Ben the Archaeologist who is searching for
the Temple of the Diamond Scarab. Once he is in the temple he meets Tiri, an
enchanting Egyptian princess. Going through a maze of underground passages
they look for ancient Egyptian treasures and confront various challenges.
The Guardian leads them step by step to the exit. The game is played on a
Balance Board, a standard Wii accessory. With this you can move through the
maze, find treasures and enter challenging situations. Since this is the
first game in the world developed jointly for visually impaired, blind and
fully sighted children, the game can be played in Dutch and in English.

To order the Wii game
As of April the wii game The Explorer can be ordered here:
