[Audyssey] Spirited Voice Recordings needed.

2012-06-22 Thread Phil Vlasak

Hi Folks,
i sent this message a few weeks ago and got no response so here we go again.
Some people have complained about the flat and dead voices of the ghosts in
my Sarah game.
I thought it was appropriate to use synthesized voices but who am I to argue
with the public?
I've added a bunch of real humans talking in the game but I have a need for
voices for,
The goblin, Peeves, Nearless Headless Nick, the Fat Friar, Moaning Myrtle,
the fat lady, and Dobby.

You need to record each phrase 2 times. This is for randomize sakes. Upon
playing a voice in my game, it will randomize all the phrases to make it
feel a bit more natural.

For example:
Very important! Please make sure you get the best out of your microphone,
and environment. Be in a quiet as possible room, and remove anything that
might make your microphone sound bad. This is serious! Otherwise, your voice
might need to be rejected.
Rejection is no problem, you can always try again. Just understand that I
want to have the best possible quality in the game, and this includes
voices!
Please be as lively as possible while recording. And if it may involve
screaming, so be it. Don't feel bad, the result will make it worthwhile!
Try to emote everything as good as you can. For example, when you say I'm
hit!, make it sound serious.
Accents are absolutely no problem. Talk in your normal accent, just like you
normally would.
Results can be sent via attached Mail to p...@pcsgames.net and I'll get back
to you.
Please send me the whole recording session in one mp3 file. This being you
start recording, begin acting, then stop. Try not to stop after each
recording. Don't worry, no one will ever hear your outtakes, and I won't
judge you either. This just makes it much easier for me.
Remember your microphone position, the room you were in, and the recording
settings in case I need more recordings from you.
Since the ghosts and creatures are all from the UK, To make sure you have a
good enough accent, I'll need you to say a few test phrases.

Moaning Myrtle:
A high pitched teenage female voice interrupted by sobs and cries.
My name is Myrtle. I do have feelings, you know. Even if I'm dead.

Stop it. You're making fun of me.

I've never come out to speak to anyone before. Well never for a girl.

Dobby the house elf:
His voice was high, a teeny, quivering squeak.

I'm Dobby, Miss. Just Dobby. Dobby the house-elf, bound to serve one house
and one family forever.

Begging your pardon, miss, Dobby has a helpful mirror, for you, Anytime,
Miss, just say Dobby help, and Dobby will try. But Dobby is wanting paying
for his work, miss.

Dobby heard tell of it from the other house-elves when he came to Hogwarts,
Miss if you want hiding, The ghosts can't find you in the broom cupboard.

Binns:
drones like an old vacuum cleaner
voice dry, reedy, and wheezy; tends to drone on and on
often cleared his throat with a small noise like chalk snapping

I am Professor Binns. My subject is History. I deal with facts, not myths
and legends

It is such a very sensational, even ludicrous tale.

it was an age when we were feared by common people. and suffered much
persecution.

It is believed to be some sort of monster, but I tell you, the thing does
not exist.

Peeves:
often makes A loud, rude sound, like the air being let out of a balloon,
or a pop sound.
makes rude noises, an evil cackle and sometimes screeches,

I'm Peeves, run for your lives!

GOT YOUR CONK!

Who's there? I Know you're there, even if I can't see you.

Wandering around at midnight, Tut, tut, tut.

Ah ha! Naughty, naughty, you'll get caughty.

Nearless Headless Nick:
In a friendly helpful tone.
I would prefer you to call me Sir Nick.

Anything I can do?

Hello, hello, Enjoying yourself?

You'd better get out of here.

Fat Lady:
She is not happy about being woken up an is a bit tipsy.
Password?

Who's there?

Are you going to give me the password, or will I have to stay
awake all night?

goblin:
In a low pitched Bulgarian accent.
My name, Griphook

You have some gold, Miss?

Eye vill take, your gold.

You can pick one voice or do several.
Thanks,
Phil

I tried pdf2txt on some files that contain images of books from a certain,
ahem well-known fantasy role playing game and I was extremely dissatisfied
by the accuracy of the results. I believe that the formatting of game books
poses a particular challenge to ocr programs.

Re: [Audyssey] Redistributing RPG Source Books

2012-06-22 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Christopher,

Yes, the general formatting of sourcebooks and guides is a problem for
OCR programs. I've noticed when trying to scan the Star Wars
sourcebooks both Omnipage 17 and Openbook 9 have problems scanning
certain sections of the books. Particularly the tables of stats etc.
They hopelessly scramble them and don't keep everything formatted
correctly. So I don't think there is any clean and clear cut way to
get access to the roll playing guides and sourcebooks without a
certain amount of manual editing to get the formatting etc back.

Cheers!

[Audyssey] MTGames: Change of name

2012-06-22 Thread Michael Taboada
Hi all,
After some thought on the future of MTGames and all that entails, we have
decided to change our name to Speed of Sound Gaming. We thought it would
provide a better image for what we hope to accomplish, as well as be slightly
more memorable to most people. With that said, we have changed all domains and
emails used by MTGames from mtgames.org to speedofsoundgaming.com. In addition,
the email addresses have all changed to the new domain as well. The user name
part of the email (the part before the at sign) wil be the same, you simply
send them to speedofsoundgaming.com instead of mtgames.org. For example, if you
were to send to supp...@mtgames.org for support. now you will send to
supp...@speedofsoundgaming.com. As of now the domains are all set to go and are
working correctly. Note that if you go to mtgames.org, you will be
automatically redirected to speedofsoundgaming.com as to reduce confusions.
Happy gaming,
