Re: [Audyssey] A Dark Room hard mode questions
Hi Sly. Spoilers ahoy! Where are you in the game? The builder does disappear very much later on, but only when you have visited the Iron mine, coal mine and sulphur mine, have the alien ship and are collecting alien alloy, and by that point you shouldn't need the traps. You only lose your equipment if you die in the wilderness, either killed in battle or by hunger an thirst, or if you leave it on the ground in a loot scenario. Hardmode is! hard there is no doubts about it, though to make life easier I did write this guide: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?id=13639 which hopefully should be helpful. Hth. Re: [Audyssey] Anyone Else Having Problems with Audiogames.net
Hi Tom. I am having no problems at all at this point, an to be honest I don't know what you mean about down more than it is up sinse I personally check the site several times a day and find very much the opposite, indeed over the last week I've been spending several hours a day on the site doing major updates to the database. I have seen the sight hickup on a couple of occasions, (although I actually can't think of any this month), but usually these are sorted by refreshing the page. I don't know if the hosting has had issues, but certainly I haven't noticed anything bad enough to warrent someone being sick of the site as you said. Re: [Audyssey] Anyone Else Having Problems with Audiogames.net
Hi Dark, The site appears to be working now, but it wasn't working at all a few hours ago when I tried to access the site. I couldn't access it via any web browser, and even tried to ping the host and got a 100% packet loss. Meaning the server was off line or was unreachable from my PC. As to my comment about Audiogames.net it just seems I have had a lot of issues with that particular site this past year. Some of it was because the site was hacked a few months back which was no fault of you or the site maintainers, and some were from other issues as yet unknown. In either case it is frustrating to try and access a site and not being able to reach it for some unexplained reason. What happened to me last night has happened to me before. I'd try and bring up Audiogames.net and get a typical 404 error that the site is unavailable. When I try to bring up Google, Audyssey, or some other site the page loads just fine. So I tend not to think it is my PC or my connection, but something funky is up with the Audiogames.net server because that seems to be the only site/server I have problems accessing for some unknown reason with an alarming regularity. Cheers! On 12/22/14, dark d...@xgam.org wrote: Hi Tom. Re: [Audyssey] Anyone Else Having Problems with Audiogames.net
Hi Tom. As I said that is a little odd, given that in the past week I've spent hours on the site and forum editing the db. While the server had a few hickups in November, I don't remember seeing any this month. I wonder if it's something to do with connections over seas, or maybe night cycles sinse the time you report the problem happening was three in the morning over hear in Europe. If you get anymore problems of this level in persistance, you should probably contact richard and Sander, sinse they're actually the webmasters of the site and in charge of the server and it's hosting. Re: [Audyssey] Anyone Else Having Problems with Audiogames.net
Hi Dark, I wasn't really talking about this week specifically. As far as this past week or so goes things have been fine until last night. I was speaking more of having issues on and off this year. They come and go intermittently and aren't tied to any specific time of day or anything I can determine to be a pattern. I just try to access the site, get a 404, and come back a few hours later and it works fine. However, you may be right about it being a problem specific to connections from over seas. Audiogames.net is based in Europe and I'm over here in the USA, and while that shouldn't be a problem such things aren't completely unheard of either. What I should do next time I get the error/problem is try and run a few diagnostic tests and try and figure out what is causing the connection issues. Perhaps it is on the server itself and Richard and Sander can fix it, perhaps it is my PC, or it could be something else completely independent of either causing the connection issues. Cheers! Re: [Audyssey] Anyone Else Having Problems with Audiogames.net
Hi Tom. that might be an idea. I certainly don't remember seeing anything as seriously intermitant as you describe. I remember a couple of miner hickups a few weeks ago where I'd get a 404 or sorry we couldn't access the server but hitting F5 to refresh the page solved that problem, and I've not seen it now for a good while as I said. Usually If I find the site completely inactive for more than a couple of hours or so I'll drop Richard and Sander a line, but the last time that happened was due to the hacking as you said. Sorry it's causing you additional trouble. All the best, Dark. --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. Ok, then another question - does window eyes launch automatically if you then launch windows, or does it also need the sort of virtual com port? Ok, next step - installed python 2.6 as well, and installed pySerial under it, and configured com0com, with values of COM8 and COM9, but, when run c:\python26\python.exe emu.py com9, it throws out errors that it can't contact port or something, but anyway. And, think had similar version of VMWare image, but, not sure if it had that !readme file in it like this one does, and not sure if will also need to sort of roll back to prior version of VMWare player as well, since currently have 9.0 running here, but, no go if serial port emulation doesn't want to cooperate - let me play around a bit more. Re: [Audyssey] ms dos
Thanks, Josh, but, no worries - that might be a somewhat local saying - but, although it's been like 20 years - literally - since I did much with these forms of operating system interface, and while was sighted back then, I was already a programmer/support technician, so it shouldn't be an issue - only thing to figure out now is how to access a form of VMWare network share from dos, but, my guess is that \\VMShare should do it, if I want to copy files into virtual file system off my host machine - and, BTW, it's comfortable with me hosting this under VMWare player 9.0, and python 2.7 is also happy to work with brailleNSpeak virtual version now that com0com drivers are happy/working, FWIW. And, lastly, since I'm here in South Africa, I would need to do something like a VOIP call to that number, and we might in fact be better off chatting via e-mail, since while English is my mother tongue, I know I have a bit of an accent compared to other countries...smile Stay well Jacob Kruger Blind Biker Skype: BlindZA Roger Wilco wants to welcome you...to the space janitor's closet... - Original Message - From: Josh k joshknnd1...@gmail.com To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Monday, December 22, 2014 10:03 PM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] ms dos hey jacob if you want to give me a call to discuss windows3.1 and the dos stuff call 717-827-1029. [Audyssey] puzzle? or bug
I opened sixth sense this afternoon and breezed through the tutorial, or instructional exercise, how ever you want to view it as. Everything worked OK. Then, after being shown how to reload my weapon, a zombie was turned loose. Although I swiped in the right direction and lifted my finger as in the opening part of the game, nothing happened. Is this a bug? or am I missing something. If so, what? Thanks. --- Be positive! Ok, created the .flp image of the original hobbit game's files, but, if I either try mount it to the already included floppy disk piece of virtual hardware, or try create another one inside virtual machine, it keeps telling me disk/drive not ready from command line when virtual machine is running..? Do you just reassign the already included floppy disk to use that image file, do you tell it to connect at power up, or do you map it into virtual machine another way?
