Re: [Audyssey] advanced tips for Erncon?
Hey all, I use the elite light fighter because it has homing missiles. This nearly doubles my score most of the time. I bought the regular medium fighter and wish I hadn't bothered wasting the game money. I had hoped it work better. I plan on doing a podcast on the game for Applevis this weekend, if there's time. With two kids, time's as precious as gold, but we'll see. I also have an intensive music project underway which is a very high priority for me, yet I can do one during breaks. So before I begin it, I need to know from you guys what i should cov er. It seems like a lot of material as been presented on list about this game, but that people are still quite stuck. By the way, I'd be interested to hear your highest scores. Mine is 104. Re: [Audyssey] advanced tips for Erncon?
By the way in reading your message, I can tell you a couple things. First, hold the afterburner button down instead of pressing it. Your speed will increase markedly. You'll know you've reached maximum speed when the afterburner noise starts playing over and over again. Also, for some reason I still don't quite get, it seems like I can only move diagonally. When I move straight up, down, left and right, I don't get much change in audio. I'll ask my son. Really, what I need is to pay my daughter a couple bucks before I do the podcast and ask her some questions, another reason I want extensive feedback from you guys. There are boundaries your ship cannot cross, like walls. There are also asteroids. Sometimes, my ship actually gets stuck in an asteroid field, and I have to wiggle in all directions to get out. Once I had to use a tactical warp. The missions differ greatly. If you want the best scores and highest game money, play Fighter Battle. Freighter Raid is hard because ships are trying to escape--to get away from you. Destroyer attack is hard because they are all in one enormous fleet, and once you've found them they've probably scored so many hits that you die, respawning and having to hunt them down again. (Remembering where they were helps obviously, but I haven't scored much about 50 on this mission.) fleet battle and Destroyer Attack are essential missions to play for completing certain challenges, where you have to destroy a certain number of turrets. Just remember, hold down that afterburner button until you hear firing. At maximum speed, a firing ship can be in and out of hearing range very quickly, and even though the sounds are in 3d positioning it's hard to tell since the enemy ship's gun doesn't go through a lot of the sound spectrum. One last thing: listen for explosions. those are asteroids being destroyed, and inside most asteroids are gems--and there's a shooting ship nearby. I play with the music off, and am hoping for separate music volume control in the next version. It blocks too much of the others sounds out though, like the little snaps that indicate the picking up of gems, and so on. [Audyssey] king of dragon pass question
Hey guys, I'm loving King of Dragon Pass, but I'm very stuck in the screen where you form tribes. I have met all the neighboring clan's demands, made a few of my own, gave them gifts, but find no way to finalize the agreement--no proceed button or anything like that. The other day I played through one of these sessions and had to close down talks, the second time I was sucessful, and now I'm going to have to close down talks again unless I can figure out what's going on. The only buttons on screen are advice and info. --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. [Audyssey] erncon
Hey guys, the joystick for Erncon is in the bottom left, almost touching the corner. It's the size of a 50-cent piece, and since the audio is positioned it's relatively easy to hear when you've moved. Your ship doesn't turn like in other games, but simply follows where the stick points. Touch the lower left-hand corner, and your ship faces southwest for example, and begins to fly in that direction, slowing to a stop once you've let go of the stick. On the lower right is your firing button. Above that is a secondary firing button, and above that a third. To the left of those is the afterburner. All the menus are accessible, but it seems that the positional audio needs work, as the ships don't always change position when you turn. I highly recommend the fighter battle, as it'll earn you the most points. I also highly recommend the survival mode. My best score is 4 minutes 30 seconds, so let's see if any of you can beat me! --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. Re: [Audyssey] ErnCon
Lol, I just sent a nearly identical message to this one. - Original Message - From: Dakotah Rickard dakotah.rick...@gmail.com To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Thursday, February 07, 2013 12:59 PM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] ErnCon Right. The controls are actually pretty simple, but you do need to fly with voiceover off. I hope you chose to start with a fighter, as a mech is a little more difficult to fly. Here is every control, as well as I can remember, having not played for about a month and a half. Starting from the bottom of your screen: on the bottom left, in what is about a half inch wide and half inch tall circle, is your flight stick. You can hear enemies firing, so you will know when you are moving. You don't move at all unless you are touching the stick, which is the blinking cursor mensioned in the tutorial. When you touch the stick, your fighter faces the direction indicated, so for example, if you're touching the bottom left of the circle, you face southwest, top left, northwest, etc. When you remove your finger, you come to a stop over time, depending on what ship you have, and when you replace your finger, you accellerate at a given rate, depending, again, on your ship. Experiment with this one, preferably with a little bit of sighted monitoring, as it's a little tricky to get the hang of, but once you've got it, you've got it. The bottom right of the screen is your firing button on a fighter, firing stick on a mech. If I remember, the stick on the right is a little bigger than the one on the left, but you'll have to experient, or maybe I'll dust off the game myself, to find out. It's in the bottom right corner, however, basically making that part of the screen symmetrical. Fighters shoot straight out in front, off into the distance. You aim by aiming your ship. Mechs fire a little differently. You can move your ship normally, but depending on what part of the firing stick circle you press, your gun will fire in that direction. You can't hit yourself, though, so don't worry. just be aware that you can't simply touch and hear firing and definitely be firing where you're going, as with a fighter. I've successfully flown a mech before, and it can really work to your advantage, once you get familiar with the game. The only other controls to worry about are on the right side of the screen, either flush with the edge or a little in. The first control to get the hang of is your secondary weapons and tirtiary weapons. These are rectangles, about an inch high, and maybe an inch and a half or two inches wide, above the firing controls and above one another. I suggest that, while you're getting the hang of it, you go into the store and equip weapons which sound different from each other, say homing missiles and mines, once you have some mines. The other control is the booster, which has no limit on the amount which it is used and gives you a temporary boost in movement speed. This control seems to be sort of hanging off the bottom left corner of your secondary weapons rectangle, above and to the left of your primary firing control. It makes a definite sound, and you need to be touching your flight stick to make the booster really do anything, but you can usually hear the sound pan in the direction away from which you are traveling, so if you're heading west, it'll pan right, or east. Other than that, if you stray too high on the right, you'll hit the Quit Mission button. Somewhere in the vicinity of your flight stick is the No button, or you can turn on Voiceover, mid-mission, and press the button. The yes button, coincidentally, si near your firing control, so be careful. I'm not going to bother with giving the layout for the non-mission screen, thoguh I will often use it without Voiceover, simply because you can easily discover that for yourself. Best of luck, and don't get too frustrated. Also, be sure you're playing the game with headphones, at least until you get a feel for your ship, because the stereo helps. Signed: Dakotah Rickard On 2/6/13, Kelly Sapergia ksaper...@gmail.com wrote: Hi, After reading about the ErnCon multiplayer arcade shooter game on this list, I downloaded it onto my iPod Touch. Quite honestly, I'm finding this game to be more of a frustration than anything. I know there were some messages on this list that basically said this game was playable with Voiceover. That may be true, but I quickly got frustrated with the tutorial, as I couldn't get past the screen where it says to touch the blinking cursor (or whatever it is) to move the ship. I double-tapped the button a few times, but nothing happened. Turning VO off didn't help as I couldn't tell where the thing was on the screen. Finally, I got so frustrated that I quit the tutorial, and was prompted to go on a mission. I found out how to fire, but other than that I really don't know what I'm doing. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'll say one thing about this

[Audyssey] my seven-year-old son gives advanced tips for Erncon
OK, my messages are coming through from the pc but not the IPhone. Anyway, I asked my son for tips on Erncon. Here's what I learned. Your ship points where the stick points. For example, your stick is pointing straight up and you hear a ship. There's no 3d sound yet, so you have to test if it's in front or behind. you point your stick east, and the ship moves off to the left. That means the ship was in front of you. Point it in front and start shooting and you'll be close. You can't hear where the gems are, but you can certainly hear where the asteroids explode and follow the sound if you're fast. You'll still be no match for a sighted player, but can definitely do it without too much difficulty. As I said, my high score is 104 points. I definitely encourage you to play this game and contact the developer about 3d positioning and enemy ships and gems making sound as I have done. Also, the elite light fighter is helpful but not extremely so, as it only earns you about 20 extra poihnts per game. It fires homing missiles, but you still have to be aimed in the target's general direction to hit it. Just remember, your ship doesn't turn when you move the stick, but rather follows it. Point the stick southwest and it faces southwest and travels in a straight line. Much less confusing and more accessible than we even thought. The way I play is to simply go southwest and southeast, treating it like a side scroller. Then, after a while, I go northwest and northeast, and there seem to be boundaries you can't go past. When you fire your boosters, they pan as you move so you can hear the direction you're traveling in. If there is no panning when their should be you've hit an asteroid or wall. Fire a shot and see what happens. The only thing I don't know how to do yet is add friends and allies. This is the best accessible arcade game for the iPhone I've played yet, with Karateka a close second. --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. [Audyssey] advanced tips for Erncon?
I posted about this before, but I don't think it got through. Sorry if it did and you're having to read basically the same question. I thought to myself the other day, if i spend a few bucks, I can unlock the elite fighter and start really kicking enemy butt. Boy was i disappointed. My score only went up about 20 points. the outcomes of the battles were a bit different--I went from shooting shooting shooting blowing up fighters then finding the next, to shooting, blowing up fighters, then flying aimlessly trying to seek out that next fighter. My high score before the elite fighter was 54. My highest with it is 74. My seven-year-old son got 182 on his third try! So, any tips for finding the ships and gems faster? How big is the playing field? Are there any obstacles, and if so, are there any sounds made when we hit them, or does it just wrap around like I would expect? I find that if I treat the game as a side scroller I do a bit better, but it's still not great. Help appreciated. This game's the best! The DVD Game(TM), today announced an agreement to develop customized Video On Demand (VOD) versions of the popular movie and TV trivia games. Comcast and Screenlife began offering VOD versions of the wildly popular trivia games for the whole family, including movie, TV, James Bond and Jr. editions, earlier this year on the cable provider's ON DEMAND service, which has generated more than two billion program views since 2004. Since launching in February, the Scene It? interactive games have quickly become one of the most-popular original programs on Comcast ON DEMAND and have already put thousands of customers' trivia knowledge to the test. This week, the companies will debut a special Harry Potter-themed edition based on the successful Screenlife board game that coincides with the VOD premiere of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire on Comcast ON DEMAND, marking the first simultaneous release of an on-demand movie and a Screenlife on-demand game. Wizards-in-training looking to test their Harry Potter knowledge can trade their wands for their remote control beginning April 21. Comcast Digital Cable customers can select the Harry Potter edition of Scene It? Today, the pop- culture phenomenon is the top-selling DVD board game of all time, selling ten million games and commanding nearly 75 percent of the entire DVD game marketplace. The popularity of the Scene It? brand, which generates more than $200 million in annual sales, is widely credited with reviving the board game industry. Scene It? On Demand trivia games are available on The Fan(TM), Comcast's innovative multimedia broadband player on www.comcast.net. Comcast and Screenlife plan to introduce dozens of additional Scene It? On Demand games in the coming months. Comcast offers more than 7,000 ON DEMAND programs a month, with the vast majority available for no additional cost.
