Why can't we forget about games like Monkey business and move on now? These

should be a Monkey Business part 2 or something. Not keep adding on to the

They are going to release new titles. They just want to update their

I couldn't wait for the Eamon games to come out. That was one of my favorite
games for the Apple when that was around.
Josh, if you're reading this, is there still hopes of the Eamon game coming
out? Have you been working on it?

Personally I like the idea of updating the existing games. I mean yes I'm
all for new games, sequels to the originals and things, but you can't deny
that Monkey Business in particular could use a few changes. For one thing
they're still trying to figure out why some of us can't play the Wild West
level, since they apparently can't reproduce that. Also, and this is just my
opinion, they could have done a much better job on Professor Smegal's voice.
I hope that's one of the things they correct.

Actually ryan, I agree about the new games thing, but sinse Draconis
said they'd be updating some of their old games such as Monkey business to
run on the Mac and with vista, why not add in some handy extras while
their at it?

Besides, judging from the news post, we'll also be getting new games from
them as well.

Well for the moment you don't. It's missing. But you have to get the
whip from the stables to scare most of the monkeys, which are hiding in
barrels. You also have to get a gun from the blacksmith so you can
thwart the bank robberies.

Personally I like the idea of updating the existing games. I mean yes
I'm all for new games, sequels to the originals and things, but you
can't deny that Monkey Business in particular could use a few
changes. For one thing they're still trying to figure out why some of
us can't play the Wild West level, since they apparently can't
reproduce that. Also, and this is just my opinion, they could have
done a much better job on Professor Smegal's voice. I hope that's one
of the things they correct.

Why can't we forget about games like Monkey business and move on
now? These games have been out for years, why are we changing them.
If anything, there should be a Monkey Business part 2 or something.
Not keep adding on to the existing titles.

Just my two scents worth.

they were on consoles and maybe the odd computer but definitely not an

Re: [Audyssey] Notes from Draconis Entertainment: Behind the mail.

2008-11-11 Thread Draconis Entertainment

Greetings all,

We are hear and reading your comments. We do not comment in detail
about future titles publicly. That has been a long-standing Draconis
policy, based on past experiences. However, we do wish to respond to
a few specific items.

We want to move our existing titles to the new cross-platform system.
Ultimately, this should improve Vista support as well, something that
has been a serious problem for several of the oldest games in our
catalog. In doing so, we will expand and enhance those titles.

As we stated in our initial update, we will be staggering the releases
of new titles and new versions of old ones. We expect game releases
to gradually accelerate as we continue to build our new engines.

Additionally, updating and enhancing previous titles allows us to
perfect our engines with existing content, which is a more efficient
way of preparing for brand-new titles. It also gives Mac users a
chance to enjoy the classic games.

We are aware that you want new titles, and you will certainly get
them. We hope you will support both our new and revised releases.

Currently, our freebie title is in private beta.

Regarding Eamon:

We are aware of the interest in this project. It is not abandoned,
and some development has moved forward, but it is a massive project
that will not see the light of day for some time. That is all we will
say publicly about that project at present.

It's at least encouraging. I did have the chance to play the old Eamonn on
the Apple 2E, but I only had the chance once. And actually it wasn't an
Apple 2E but a GS. FOrtunately the synthe that was used for the 2E could
also be used with the GS. Ah, the old Echo synthesizer. It'd be kinda funny
if one of those could be used with Window-Eyes.

porting such a game over to the FS Classic Notetakers, PM, and Smartphone
but I am not sure, especially if Draconous is COPYRIGHTING it. HTH.

Well for the moment you don't. It's missing. But you have to get the whip
from the stables to scare most of the monkeys, which are hiding in
barrels. You also have to get a gun from the blacksmith so you can thwart

Personally I like the idea of updating the existing games. I mean yes
I'm all for new games, sequels to the originals and things, but you
can't deny that Monkey Business in particular could use a few changes.
For one thing they're still trying to figure out why some of us can't
play the Wild West level, since they apparently can't reproduce that.
Also, and this is just my opinion, they could have done a much better
job on Professor Smegal's voice. I hope that's one of the things they
correct.

I hope that's one of the things they
correct.

Why can't we forget about games like Monkey business and move on now?
These games have been out for years, why are we changing them. If
anything, there should be a Monkey Business part 2 or something. Not
keep adding on to the existing titles.
Just my two scents worth.

Re: [Audyssey] Notes from Draconis Entertainment: Behind the mail.

2008-11-11 Thread Thomas Ward

Hi Ryan,
I see your point, but I also see Draconis's point as well. Keep in mind
here that Microsoft has introduced a completely new way of developing
software with Windows Vista, and from what I hear Windows 7's
development platform is going to largely build upon the core
technologies for Windows Vista such as the .NET Framework, XNA, etc
while fazing out Visual Basic 6, most of DirectX, etc. What this means
is that it is going to become almost impossible to support Monkey
Business, Aliens In the Outback, etc in a few years. They were designed
ffor the Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP era of Windows, and now that Windows 7
is on its way in 2010 Draconis is going to have to rewrite or stop
supporting there old games. As Josh said in the e-mail, they don't want
to have to run into another Windows Vista in the near future.
As someone who is a happy owner of Monkey Business I don't want to
upgrade to say Windows 7 in a few years and suddenly find out all of my
old games are dead on arrival. That actually happened to me when I first
upgraded to Windows Vista last year. I installed some of my games and
they blew up. I did some research and discovered that Vista didn't ship
with DX7VB.dll and DX8VB.dll as well as a couple other VB 6 libraries.
Installing Jim Kitchen's Winkit install fixed the errors, but it was a
nasty surprise none-the-less.

They are going to release new titles. They just want to update their
existing ones as well. Personally I have absolutely no problem with that.
As I say in my other message I definitely feel Monkey Business could use
an update. And yes, a sequel wouldn't be unwelcome either.

play monkey business so why release it again

Regarding Eamon:

We are aware of the interest in this project. It is not abandoned, and
some development has moved forward, but it is a massive project that will
not see the light of day for some time. That is all we will say publicly
about that project at present.

fantastic!

I think whichever dev comes up with a true audio Rpg will really get
loads of honours, pluss of course a great handle on the markit.
