Re: [Audyssey] Rail racer tracks question

2007-09-22 Thread Dark
Hi che.

Yes, Rail racer is fun! it's very nice to have a game that I can stick on
for a quick five minute race, and at the same time hopefully add to my cash.
i do stil need practice at the game though, sinse several of the class 4
tracks are giving me trouble even though I'm fast approaching class 6.

As to the extra info business, well I take the point that it's a lot of info
for a new player to get used to, but on the other hand,
Rail racer has a lot of keys to remember, and freeing a new player from the
responsibility of manually checking his/her lean and altitude might make
things simpler for some people. Personally, I myself would always go for the
more info the better, at first anyway. but this might just be me.

Beware the Grue!

Dark.

Greetings Dark! You have it correct. The official Tracks go in the
official Tracks folder, and the User Tracks go into the User Tracks
 folder.
The deal is Users can up load tracks they have created to the user track
page on the site for all to download. Then you can comment on the tracks
and based on user feedback Chee will promote a user track to official
 track
status. What this does is allow you to earn money and post track times on
them. You cannot do any of this on a user track, they are again just

Okay, appologies for the bombarding of E-mails here but I've had a look at
the problem, and I don't believe it's the tracks that are causing it.

I started getting error messages whenever! I attempted to use any of the

the error message was along the lines of Web server is unavailable

this is rather confusing, sinse it was working fine last night, and
obviously there's no problem with my net connection (or otherwise I couldn't
send this E-mail).

the says Check firewall but I've already unblocked railracer, and i'm not
getting any new messages about the connection being blocked.

sinse the Blind adrenaline site is stil up and running (so I assume things
are working okay at che's end), any suggestions would be appreciated, sinse
now I can't even post times or money to the web.

  Hi Dark,
Sorry for the late response, I just got back on list and I haven't been
checking this email box very often.
The problem is with the game server, not your tracks. I have been doing
work on the new release of Rail Racer, and it looks like I unplugged a main
conduit to the old version by mistake.
Anyhow, all should be working fine now.
Regarding the new version of RR, I'll update the list when it is ready.

Re: [Audyssey] Rail racer tracks question

2007-09-21 Thread Dark
No trouble che, when the other tracks briefly stopped working I realized
what the issue was.

i can't exactly complain if your hard at work on a new version! it was just
slightly bad luck for me that this coincided with my first trial of
downloaded tracks, -- pse!

Regarding the new version, playing the other day a thought did occur to me
for another feature, either in this version or a subsequent one.

I'm pretty terrible at estimating jump hight (I'm moderately terrible at the
game in general, but so it goes), anyway, one problem I have is that by the
time I've pressed A to check my altitude, I'm already on wmy way down, thus
I get a slightly skewed impression of what hight I was when I cleared the
jump.

Perhaps you could considder having the option for your hight at the apex of
a jump to be spoken automatically, ditto for taking curves, (though I
find it slightly easier to hit D at the appropriate place, but others might
not).

Of course, this sort of auto speaking should be on a toggle, so that you can
turn it off when your sufficiently skilled at the jumps and curves. But it
might make the game slightly more newby friendly and easy to learn (though
it'd stil be difficult to master).

If everyone else has sufficiently cracked taking jumps to make this
suggestion pointless, or suggesting something that would be needlessly
complex to program, my appologies.

Hi,
I've had some renewed interest in Rail racer myself, and have been
playing the demo track. I think I like dark's suggestion of announcing
when you have hit the

apex of your jump and when you have reached the correct lean on a curve.
Believe it or not I still haven't won a single race in Rail Racer. I'm
just a very poor player at this game.
