Quite a few of you were already waiting for this game to be posted, when you
were first given a heads up by Nocturnus here:

For the rest of you, this might be a pleasant surprise to suddenly have a brand
new game to play! Castaways is a roleplaying, strategy game, that seems like a
mix between Sound RTS, Oregon Trail, and Lunimals. I promise that this game
will provide hours and hours of fun, plus considerable replay value. There are
22 types of units, 17 types of buildings, and you have to manage 17 different
resources.

After a violent storm smashed your ship against some rocks, you, and your
fellow survivors wash up on the shore of a hostile land filled with Goblins.
Using the limited supplied, scattered across the beach from your ship, you must
put together a settlement to keep your people from starving. Building
placement is important, and I'm sure people will develop drastically different
strategies for where they should be. Also, you are required to choose 2
"perks", and 1 "fault" when you begin a new game. These 2 benefits, and 1
disadvantage, will uniquely change the way your game experience will go.

Rather than controlling each individual unit, Castaways takes more of a macro
management approach. When you build a Tavern, any peasants will automatically
work to keep it stocked with supplies. When you make a Hunter, he, or she,
will automatically travel out into the woods to hunt. The challenge is,
finding the proper balance, and knowing what to build, and when.

This first beta release of the game is using only temporary sounds. Pretty
much, these are sounds I just snatched from my Lunimals game, haha! Locutus is
already hard at work, coming up with sounds that will be included in version
updates. If you have any comments, or suggestions about the sounds, he is
actually the guy to ask. The way that Castaways is designed, makes it
difficult to know where to begin, when trying to help someone learn to first
start playing. Nocturnus is working on a walkthrough, but in the mean time,
both he and I will do our best to answer people's questions here.

I hope you all enjoy this new game!
