Re: [Audyssey] CereProc Voices

2010-05-13 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi all,
Let's try and stay clear of inflamitory comments shall we? Admitedly I
am no fan of George Bush Jr. either, but there are much betterways to
say it than someone sucks. In fact, let's try and take the politics
off the list as that can be a hot topic that has nothing to do with
our list.

Cheers!

Hi Michael,
I think you didn't get the joke in the sentence,
the greatest ever 43rd president of the United
States,
It did not say,
the greatest ever president of the United
States,
As there is only one 43rd president, you have no one to compare him to.
I didn't write the words, I just copied them from the web page.

Hi Folks,
Welcome to the Bush-o-Matic Beta
George W. Bush, arguably the greatest ever 43rd president of the United

harnessed the latest video and speech technology to create your own
mini-Bush!

Just type your text into the Bush-o-Matic and press the 'Generate' button.

Re: [Audyssey] CereProc Voices

Hi Lori,
Officially speaking no. Unofficially there is one I know of that I
have been working on for a couple of years using the .Net version of
the Genesis Engine. However, as has been mentioned many times there
are serious copyright infringement issues with releasing it to the
public. So that is why I hesitate to mention it here. I'm sure now
that I've said something my e-mail will be packed with requests to
download it, and at this point I'll have to refuse on the grounds I
can't give it out, and also since I've spent much of my time getting
MOTA ready I still have to port my Star Wars game to C++. Even then
I'm not sure if or when I will make it public do to the laws involved
here.
The same issues I speak of would effect GMA or anyone else who
attempts to create one. It is called copyright law, and Lucas Arts is
insanely protective of those copyrights. Whoever releases a Star Wars
game has to be extremely careful how he or she does so regardless if
it is free or not.

Problem with that is the copyrights. Lucas Arts is reputed to be murder when
it comes to that. And it's way too expensive for any blind person to get
written permission to use them. And even if you could you could never make
that back just from our market.

Hi Folks,
I also looked up the CereProc Voices
http://www.cereproc.com/home

and found their price for Windows 22k SAPI voices at $39 US
They can also build a SAPI voice with 4 hours of recorded speech but do
not say how much it costs.
Just think of having Alexander Scourby, Jim Dale, Frank Oz, Jim Henson,
Sir John Gielgud, Ralph Richardson and Orson Welles

 as SAPI voices!
Or how about James Earl Jones as the voice of your Star Wars game?

Hi,
Definitely interesting to say the least. It was sort of funny hearing
President Obama as a text to speech voice. Although, I do imagine it
would be a decent voice to listen to as far as reading books etc.
