[Audyssey] STFC Errors.

2006-12-04 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Bryan,
I have tested the 1.0 install on two different machines locally and have
not ben able to replicate your error locally.
One test system had 1.1.43 and 2.0 frameworks on it and it used the 2.0
libs. The second only has net framework 2, and it ran fine.
However, since you mentioned you did have the test releases did you
fully uninstall the betas, and delete the patch files from the
c:\program files\USA Games\Final Conflict directory?
It's important that nothing remains of the betas as 1.0 is pretty
incompatible with the test versions.
Another thing to try is open your
c:\program files\usa games\final conflict
directory and try and run stfc.exe from there. I am wondering if your
working dir got set properly for the icon/program launcher.
I initially had this error you got when setup failed to correctly set
the working directory for stfc.

 Hi Thomas,
   I just downloaded FC1.0. I have boh .net framework 2.0 and DirectX 9.0C o
n my machine. However after I installed the game I found it wouldn't run.
It's bizarre, since the test version ran just fine on my LPTO I got the
 following error message.
STFC.EXE-Common language Runtime Debugging Services Dialogue
Application has generated an exception that could not be handled.
Then it listed a Process ID and a thread ID, both of which seem to be random
each time the error occurs. It then said Click OK to terminate. Click Cancel
to debug the application. I clicked cancel only to receive the following
 error.
 STFC.EXE - No Debugger Found
Registered JIT debugger is not available. Is there something else I need on
my machine before I can run this version?
It ain't pretty when the pretty leaves you with no place to go.

[Audyssey] STFC Errors.

2006-12-04 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Robin and all,
Be assured I will do all I can to figure out what is the matter, but
honestly at this point I haven't a clue what the issue is. This error is
new, and 1.0 hasn't been fully tested out in the wild with framework
1.1. This was one of the final builds before the accident of losing the
source happened.
So everyone bare with me as I pick and pry hoping to find out what is
different about your systems, and mine.
Unfortunately, most of the problems won't likely be resolved until I can
write a patch or a full upgrade.
Although, since it is working almost flawless here I am assuming it is
misbehaving do to some miner incompatibility between your systems and mine.
I'll likely draft up a tech support form for everyone, and if everyone
fills it out I can see what error might be blowing up stfc.

I uninstalled the other STFC version before installing this version and
also tried reinstalling this version of the game. I hope you can help me
 with this problem!

[Audyssey] STFC Errors.

2006-12-04 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Dark,
No need to be sorry for announcing a problem. That is what I am here
for is solving and squashing the bugs.
Although, I do have to ask if your system meets the system specs, and if
you have followed the suggestions I have given to Bryan earlier in the
thread.

Dark wrote:
I'm afraid I'm also having difficulty getting tthe game working, but in my
case windows just says Stfc.exe has encountered a problem and needs to
close, we are sorry for the inconvenience. If you were in the middle of
something, the information you were working on may be lost

And then giving me a Close button

I would guess this is the same trouble that Robin and Brian mention, accept
in my case for some weerd reason windows isn't giving me information about
the problem, merely telling me there is one.

I hope the problem can be fixed, sinse I deffinately want to play this game.
 Sorry about the complaint.

[Audyssey] STFC Errors.

2006-12-04 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Bryan,
Those are a couple of good questions, and ones I am asking myself at
this very moment. However, there is two major changes between the
version you are trying to get working and the test releases.
The first is .NET 2.0 support. The original game was designed around a
1.1.43 platform. Second, the original used MSI, Microsoft Setup
Installer, and this version uses InnoSetup. Neither is exactly earth
shaddering changes, but something obviously broke on your, Robin's, and
Dark's computers.

I wonder why it didn't show up in the testing? This is really quite bizarre,
 not to mention frustrating.

Hi Yohandy,
That is interesting. I have never gotten that error with either STFC or
Rail Racer. This seams to be a .NET thing, and likely do to something
out of sink.
Interesting thing is that I wasn't having this error at all until I
switched to InnoSetup which is the same setup/installer Che is using for
Rail Racer.
The main thing I need to know is if it runs when you manually launch
stfc.exe from the installation directory.

Yohandy wrote:
well the strange thing is I get the same error when starting rail racer. I
sometimes get it, and sometimes not. it's totally weird, and noone can
 figure it out.

Hi Shaun,
Great you are the only person besides myself that had no issues. That
means our computers have something in common that the others do not
which is breaking the game.
It would be helpful to find out what exactly that something is.

hmm.
Well it doesn't help that I have everything really, I have all dotnet from 1.1
sp1 to 3.0.
I have directx 9c latest, I have xp and vista sdks, speech sapi.
In short I have almost everything any game would could, or would ever need.
I'm not sure if our systems could be graded as being able to produce the
problem, I have everything and I think you probably have everything to.

No no. the game's running fine for me, I was just telling folks on here that
I've had that problem with rail racer. It seems to happen randomly though,
and only when I run the game from the shortcuts. it happens more often from
the start menu shortcut than the desktop, which does not make any sence.
