Hi Folks,
I found another site for
SpoorSim Train Driving simulator

This seems to be a German site. Look for download link to download the game
installer.

The following functions will only work if the unit or train is stationary.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alt R Reverse the orientation of a unit.
Alt U Uncouple units. First select a unit with F7 / F8.
F3 - Trackside view, places camera ahead of the train beside the track.

trackside view. Return to outside view (F2) and switch trains from there.
PLEASE NOTE:
LIMITED DRIVING:
This version offers limited driving of locomotives. Working steam locomotive
controls are the blower, regulator, reverser, sander, train and locomotive
brakes. Diesel-electric locomotive functional controls are the throttle,
reverser, sander, dynamic, train and locomotive brakes.
PENALTY STOPS:
The driving speed limit is 80 kilometers per hour. A penalty stop is
incurred when this limit is exceeded during which all controls are disabled.
For the diesel-electric locomotive a penalty stop is also incurred when the
current limit is exceeded.
SHUNTING RULES:
A maximum of 25 trains is allowed with a maximum of 75 units per train.
Coupling between steam and diesel-electric powered trains is not allowed.
Due to the nature of the programme, there is no simple way to disentangle
trains in the event of an accidental collision on a junction. This is
attempted automatically, but in certain cases the effect of gravity works
against this action. Either exercise patience or delete the state file. Do
not attempt to couple trains on a switch unless both trains are following
the same path through the switch. Crashes and derailments are not simulated
and collision detection is only used for the purpose of coupling.
TRAIN MASS:
All coaches/wagons have been assigned the same mass, empty or not.
MANUAL FIRING:
Due to the frustration trying to fire and drive sensibly at the same time,
manual firing of steam locomotives has been disabled until a workable
solution is found. Like before, boiler pressure remains at full pressure.
SOUND ARTEFACTS:
All trains use the same sound source material and this periodically results
in echoes when trains pass or run together.
TEXTURES:
The image format used for textures is the Microsoft(R) DirectDraw(R) Surface
(.dds) file format. DDS plug-ins for 3DS Max, Adobe Photoshop and Jasc Paint
Shop Pro can be downloaded from:

"SpoorSim is a freeware train driving simulator programme featuring
locomotives used by the South African Railways. A S.A.R. Class GMA/M Garratt
steam locomotive and a S.A.R. Class 33 (GE U20C) diesel-electric locomotive
are at your disposal to be driven along a 100 mile fictional route."
Originally called Steam Locomotive Simulator in it's Beta days I think.
It has got great potential, I don't think there are any stations or
signalling yet, though I have only driven about 15km at the moment.
You have to get used to the keys as you press the key for what you want to
operate, ie- x=regulator then use the left or right mouse button to open or
close the regulator, you do the same for other functions, and it is good
having the voice help so you get confirmation on what key you are pressing
and you also can get other info about your train and how far you have
travelled.
The cabs are great for both the steam and diesel, the diesel being my
favourite. You can also jump at will between the steam or diesel loco.
I like the nice touch when you put the loco's in AI or manual mode, in the
steam loco when you take control a flask appears in the cab and in the
diesel loco a piece of paper(workings) appears on the clip board.
The sounds are very good and it runs very smooth on my modest Athlon XP
system.
1. This version offers limited driving of locomotives. Working steam
locomotive controls are the blower, regulator, reverser, sander and train
brake. Boiler pressure remains at full pressure. Diesel-electric locomotive
functional controls are the throttle, reverser, sander, dynamic and train
brakes. The driving speed limit is 80 kilometers per hour. A penalty stop is
incurred when this limit is exceeded during which all controls are disabled.
2. All trains use the same sound source material and this periodically
results in echoes when trains run together.
The first few km are on a fairly steep upgrade so you probably need to let
the reverser out a bit and around 60% throttle. ISTR from an earlier version
the Garratt could lose its footing quite easily. With the diesel I was
managing about 50km/h uphill though the amps were in the red sector.
The Garratt slips like a real engine.
By that I mean the wheels don't just spin on the spot like in MSTS and the
exhaust beat is the same as for the high speed setting. On the Garrett they
spin fast for something like two revolutions then grip briefly then spin
again, grip briefly etc.
And all this with the exhaust sounds being in sync with the wheel rotation!
