Greetings, Charles. A few quick tips for Goldwave: 1. Control + f9 starts recording, Control + f8 stops recording. 2. F4 = Play / restart playback, f5 = rewind during playback, f6 = Fast Forward during playback, f7 = pause, and f8 = stop. 3. Before doing a recording, access the Goldwave options (f11). Switch to the recording tab, and in the Record Mode group of radio buttons, set the option to Unbounded. This will allow you to record for as long as you wish, whereas other options require a specific file length. 4. Your Left and Right bracket keys set your start and end markers, respectively. In Goldwave, everything between the start and end markers is considered selected, so you'll want to set these markers around the sound you wish to modify. You can hit the bracket keys at any time, whether in playback or stop mode, and the selection will automatically update to where you are. Alternatively, you can use Shift+arrow keys to move your start marker incrementally, and Control + Shift + arrows to move your end marker in a likewise fashion.
