Re: [Audyssey] jim kitchen's golf game question

2013-10-04 Thread dark

Hi charlse.

I like the beeps myself. Basically you hear one at about %90 power as the
indicator cycles up, just before the meater hits the max, then another beep
at %90on the way down. This means if your going for full power you hear the
beep, then hit spacebar about a quarter second after. while getting it right
takes practice, the fact that there is! a beep means you've sort of got an
indicator when your close to the top, rather than having to listen to the
pitch cycle up and then back down, in that way it's a little like a pit
indicator in a side scroller or a targeting bleep in a sterrio target, since
it gives you an audio kew to aime for, but one you'll still need to practice
using. Usually when I have tried without the beep, I find I wait just a
little too long or let fly just a little too soon, and will say get 280 or
290 yards with the 1wood. Only with the beeps can I get precisely over the
300 mark.

Hth.

All the best,

Dark.

Hi Marsha,

You can use the woods in the fairway all you want. Well except for the 1
wood. That is only for off of the tee, but the 2, 3 and 4 wood can be
used in the fairway.

Below is the hints from the golf.txt file. I hope that they might help.
If you have any other specific questions, please ask and I will try to
help.

Golf Hints.

The object of golf is to get the ball into the hole. On most of
the holes you will want to start at the tee using your 1 wood so
that you can drive the ball about 300 yards. Of course you don't
want to do that on say the holes that are like 147 yards. But
after you drive the ball off of the tee your next goal is to get
the ball onto the green using one of your other clubs. Most likely
an iron. Once on the green it will tell you how many feet you are
from the pin which is the flag pole that is stuck in the hole. Now
all you have to do is hit the ball with the correct amount of power
to get the ball into the hole. Oh yeah you want to get the ball
into the hole in as few strokes as possible. Par or less is the
goal. A birdie is one less than par. An eagle is two less than
par and a double eagle is three less than par. A hole in one is
always a good thing. A boggy is one over par and a double boggy is
two over par.

The game of golf takes lots of practice and knowing which club to use for
each shot. Putting of course takes lots of practice. Here is a list of
which club I use depending on how far it is to the green. With the
exception of the pitching wedge I go pretty much for maximum power

with each club.

less than 100 yards = pitching wedge.
less than 125 yards 9 iron.
less than 140 yards 8 iron.
less than 155 yards 7 iron.
less than 175 yards 6 iron.
less than 190 yards 5 iron
less than 205 yards 4 iron.
less than 220 yards 3 iron.
less than 235 yards 2 iron.
less than 250 yards 1 iron.
the 1 wood will get me about 300 yards and the 4 wood about 260
yards.
Adding sounds to the game.

You can add your own ambient sounds to the golf game. They will be
the sounds that are randomly played on the golf course when you do
not press a key for awhile.

All you need to do is put wave files in this folder. The wave
files will need to start with the 3 letters amb and have a .wav
extension. Do not replace the existing wave files named amb1.wav
through amb37.wav. I recommend you name the wave files with the
standard dos file name format. I E no more than 8 letters followed
by the extension .wav I also recommend that you use 8 bit wave
files with the sample rate of 11025.

Hi Charles,

In version 9 I disallowed using the woods in the sand trap. In version 10 I
have improved the way that the pitching wedge and irons work in the sand trap.
Also it now announces the distance that your shot went even when it lands on
the green. We have added 100 new descriptions that you can use when creating a
golf course. I have separated the two programs into the golf game and the golf
course maker program. There will be more options when creating a golf course.
As I said I still have some work to do on it, but it is coming along.

Hi Josh, it's Blind Fury again.
I don't know if Jim will make a mod for the baseball game or not. However
in the gulf game you have to count and listen to the pitches of the putting
sound. meaning when you are going to putt theball if it is 40 feet from the
green hit the spacebar at the highest pitch if not it is less then 40 feet
from the green then you count by 2 or really fast and then you should be
able to putt acuatelly also read the hints of the game and also do practice
rounds of the driving ranges and the putting course ok then you should be
able to get in the hole.

Re: [Audyssey] jim kitchen's golf game

2007-02-26 Thread Dark
Hi Jim.

I do enjoy the practice and precision needed in your golf game, I actually
find it a nice break when I want to play something relaxing and don't feel
up to playing an arcade style game, also, the hundreds of extra courses mean
that there's always something new to play as well. What's really odd, is
that I don't particularly enjoy sport or sport games, - though I'll try
any audio game that's going just to see what it's like.

As far as Crickit goes, I did used to play it at schoolso I have a vague
idea as to how the game works, but even in England you have to be a fairly
dedicated fan to pick up on the subtleties and terminology of the game.

Football (socker), on the other hand, you get to know whether your
particularly INTERESTED in sport or not. Not only is there a lot on the
local and national news, but also in some parts of the country (including up
here around the city of Newcastl), it's a very indeed. major thing, with
people wearing the appropriate kit for their team, wandering around with
radios broadcasting the match, pubs showing games etc. Some people will even
hitchhike ridiculously long distances just to see their local team play.

Beware the the grue!

Dark.

Hi josh. If you want to get the ball in the hole practice counting in two's
e.g. 10 feet 2 4 6 8 hit space on 10 and you should get it. You may need to
practice the speed at which you count but once you've got it you'll be
putting almost every time.

Hi,

Is there a walkthrough for Jim Kitchen's golf game? When I reach the green I

never get the ball in the hole. Also, will Jim make a mod for his game, or
re-write it so instead of a female umpire there's a male umpire so it sounds

more like a playstation game or pc game?

The rules of baseball can be found using a search engine. They would be too
involved to put into an Email to the list. Just do a search for something
like

"rules of Baseball"

or

"baseball rules"

or something like that. HTH.

2007-02-25 Thread Dark
Hi Jim.

Personally, I really like the golf game precisely because! it takes practice
to get any good scores on the course. this is rather unusual, because sport
and sports games aren't usually my thing, but I just find the golf game good
fun to play.

I've tried the Baseball game, but being both from the Uk, and not really
into sports, I'm afraid I found it rather difficult to know what was going
on. I get the principle that someone boles the ball, - or is it called
pitching? and the batsman has to hit it while another player runs round the
bases to score, however there are some things I find rather confusing. For
instance, how come sometimes the ball is court the player is out and
sometimes not? And what does "Stealing" and "bunting" mean?

Perhaps at some point you might considder updating the game with some basic
rules ofBaseball for people not familiar with the game and it's terminology,
the way you have in the Golf game.

all the best,

Dark.

Re: [Audyssey] jim kitchen's golf game

2007-02-25 Thread Jim Kitchen
Hi Josh,

No, there is no walk through for my golf game. I think that the best thing
that you could do is to practice on the putting practice green. Putting is one
of the more difficult aspects of the game of golf, but with practice you can
get pretty good at it in my game.

No, sorry no mod for my baseball game and I am going to send Kathy after you.
Personally I thought that she did a great job for the voice of an
umpire.
