The message for opening and closing farms was Supposed! to talk about harvesting, and not about peasants restocking, but I had a typo that messed that up. I've fixed that, so in the next update the message will be correct.
The saved game will be very useful, yes. What could be happening is a backlog of messages. For example, all of the vegetables could have been delivered, but the messages for those deliveries get spread out for several ticks after they actually happened.
