Greetings! Just to report that this has now been resolved, and the
release tarball can now be retrieved from the official gnu site.
That said, a cleanup 2.6.14 release is forthcoming shortly, with the
principal goal of supporting gcc-12.
Take care,

Greetings! Yes, we will alas need a cleanup 2.6.14 release in the
immediate future. In general I like the lifetime of releases to be
long, but in this case we released assuming the current gcc had a bug
that needed fixing, and only found out after release that the behavior
was deliberate. We can

Greetings! Correct -- my upload was rejected for an as yet undetermined
signature verification failure. I am corresponding with them about it,
and received my first reply yesterday.
Take care,

Greetings! Please try again with --disable-readline, and post your
readline (or editline etc. equivalent) version.

I did:
$ git checkout Version_2_6_13
and then run:
ยง ./configure --prefix /package/prog/gcl
and got this error:

Greetings! I think you are building the master branch, not the
Version_2_6_13 branch just released, which is current 'stable'.
I've just built master here locally, so in case you are interested in
that branch, I'd love to see the full build log, as I can build without
issue (Debian Linux sid)

Greetings! Yes either wait, or do what I do with Debian/Ubuntu,
build-depend on gcc-11 until gcc-12 is ready. Clang in debian/sid works
as well.

I'll send the full log to you in a bit. I was using clang 15.0.4 on a
Fedora 37 system, and I did

Greetings, and thanks so much as always for your feedback!
Curious about clang -- would love to see the whole build log. I just
did a successful build on debian unstable with clang 1:14.0-55.3.

Greetings, and thanks so much for your feedback!
My strong guess is that you are using gcc-12. There is a known bug
therein preventing gcl from using it until fixed. I anticipate this
won't take too long, so have not put any configure checks etc. in the
way.

but all feedback thus far indicates a successful installation:

I'm hoping it appears in a few days, but in the meantime you can
