Ah I don't think there is a difference, if you use vnc or if you run some
exportetd application in both cases you have to transmit the grafic details,
I think if you reduce the detail by setting options in vnc you will even
have better performance with vnc, than running an exported app.

If you are looking for clients that connect to the eDonkey network like
eMule, then have a look at mldonkey (in Portage) and kmldonkey (also in
Portage).
