to use sudo, you'll have to
edit /etc/sudoers.
Did you install shadow with pam support? If yes, check /etc/pam.d/su. It has
some commented lines which, when uncommented, remove some restrictions.

These are not new kernels, but kernel sources. You have to configure,
compile, update bootloader, etc. manually (or use genkernel).

No, it is because there is a new portage ebuild in the tree.

OK, since I was the one who first complained, I will explain next time.

Maybe you should switch off PATA first.

When configuring your kernel look into "SCSI low-level drivers" and enable

Use "emerge -Duvp --tree world" to see what will be upgraded and which
packages are affected. If there are major library updates, it is a good
idea to run revdep-rebuild afterwards.

Not quite sure, but I'd guess that this form of mount doesn't
consult /etc/fstab. Did you try just "mount /mnt/cdrom"?

s on the bootloader.
AFAIK there is a patch for lilo to make it work with EVMS volumes, but not
for grub.
I'd recommend to make /boot a real partition (32M should be enough).
Everything else can be on lv's.

It is a complete implementation of the Network Time Protocol (NTP)
version 4, but also retains compatibility with version 3, as defined by
RFC-1305, and version 1 and 2, as defined by RFC-1059 and RFC-1119,
