I'm having trouble running opengl apps like glxgears and tremulous. The
nvidia kernel module is loaded and eselect reports that opengl is being
handled by nvidia but still no opengl app runs. Glxgears complains about
it being run in the wrong display.

I'm trying to get my Broadcom 4311 b/g card to work with the native
kernel driver (bcm43xx) and b43-fwcutter but it's does not work. I
placed the extracted firmware code in /lib/firmware and dmesg states

deleting the appropriate .gnome and .gnome2 directories would fix the
problem. I'm not sure why this happens or why this solution worked for
