I'm installing a new gentoo system.
After installing the minimal system I tried to emerge applications like kde,
samba, cups or something like that, but everytime I get the following message:
emerge -av kde-meta

wanted it to remember every damn file I've opened. It's a personal

I think "KDE Menu Button -> Utilities -> More Applications -> Binary Editor
(KHexEdit)" is what you're looking for. Ironically enough, I was just using

OK, let's start with xfce4-meta because there was only one failure.
eix-update was done this morning and emerge -DuN @system is clean
using ~arch in make.conf. I'll paste make.conf &
.conf as I don't really know how the compiler or tool set was
built. Just paranoid.
I used to do it twice before I started installing apps or desktops but
I've cut back. :-)

Following that move, I ran revdep-rebuild... it said I had a
consistent machine.
I changed my make.conf USE= flags from X to -X so they look like this:

in place, unattended, after inputing the necessary configuration information

So, add "-gnome" to your global USE flags-- oh, I see you already do--
and then do an emerge -uaDNtv world (to recompile all apps compiled with
