I cannot think of any in particular specific to referencing but it's been
several months already since
we cut 2.15.x, if there is a change that affected you, it might be as much
as one year old (when 2.15.x
development started on the master branch, six months before its release).

I'm currently debugging an issue with projections. When we updated from
geoserver 2.14.x to 2.15.1 our map projections broke for EPSG:3832 and a custom
