Unicode symbols, whether U+2605 BLACK STAR or U+0041 LATIN CAPITAL
LETTER A still need to be rendered in a specified font.

I guess you could use an ExternalGraphic - the symbol has to come from
somewhere, and if not a font library, then an external file is probably your
best bet.
