[Gimp-developer] About the XCF format

2010-03-04 Thread Eduardo Barijan
So, I was thinking about an interesting matter: why the image viewer
softwares doesn´t have support to XCF? Some linux file managers, like
Thunar, have the thumbnails support.
So what if I want to develop, or help developing, an image viewer, can I
implement the XCF format? And if yes, where may I find more info about the
format? Is it all in the gimp sources? Or, better, is XCF a gimp format or
was it borrowed from some other place?

[Gimp-developer] About futures features

2009-04-15 Thread Eduardo Barijan
Hello, it´s me again.

I was thinking this time about 3 new other features that Gimp could have:

1 - grouping layers by folder.

This one should help artists who does their work in a lot of layers, as
example, coloring characters. Then you have a folder for body, for example,
with just the layers that you used to do lineart and color of body, etc.

2 - Hide/Show all layers inside folder

If (1) exists, then this one would help in show/hide just the part you want
in you project

3 - Select layers and then apply Merge layers

Instead of do it, for example, 5 times to merge 5 layers, it could be
possible to select which layers are affected and then do the command.

I myself don´t know if it is simple/hard to implement. But thinking on a new
Major version, this simple tasks would help a lot, wont it?

[Gimp-developer] New features that should be nice

2009-03-29 Thread Eduardo Barijan
Hello Gimp coders!
I was thinking about 2 new features that would help a lot.

1 - the auto-save job. When you`re working and gimp crashes, your work is
lost =x. If not a auto-save, a .bak file that you can save as xcf for
recover work should be fine too.

2 - An option to save custom collor palettes. Yes, sometimes you are working
on a big draw. Then when you finish a bit of the work and closes gimp, the
color pallete you were working is lost. And it is very boring to keep note
of any hexa code for colors.

Just some ideas. How do you think about it?
