Re: [Gimp-user] How I save the settings of a tool?

For the hires monochrome screen (600x400 pixels) there was no greyscales. And back then I was very into devising my own system fonts, my own desktop icons etc. Hence everything was done in a bitmap editor. But why would one act thus nowadays? Is it just a "hobby" like ascii art? Is it a "serious" class at some college? Is the only "propper" way of editing to sett single pixels by means of a mouse cursor? Maybe mtpaint is closer to your requirements? Regards Ralf ___ Gimp-user mailing list Gimp-user@lists.XCF.Berkeley.EDU https://lists.XCF.Berkeley.EDU/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user
[Gimp-user] Static builds for Debian Etch?
Dear list, is there any official static builds / backports packaged for Debian Etch? Openoffice.org 2.3 does a great job there. It was just great to have Gimp 2.4 with stable Debian [Edu]. Hi there, to make it more understandable: Is this what you want? - if there is a 122x344 sized section in clipboard - then file::new should offer exactly that dimension (122x344) as new size - additional to such default sizes like DIN A4 or letter or 600x800 and so on? My impression is that you rotate the picture slightly in a second layer and than use some kind of calculation like difference. Some elements look close to "emboss" - but keep the color. Maybe you start a screencast on YT - there is already some for GIMP. [Gimp-user] Gimp Tutorials: Video Clips @ YT
Dear list, recently I encountered many nice video tutorials at UTube that demonstrate the power and usability of GIMP [1]. Some of them are quite convincing. Maybe it's worth starting a contest for the best Gimp 2.4 tutorial. One of the first topic could be: How to create an animated screen movie with Gimp. yours kindly Ralf 1. http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=GIMP&search=tag ___ Gimp-user mailing list Gimp-user@lists.XCF.Berkeley.EDU https://lists.XCF.Berkeley.EDU/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user

If it was for exporting to GIF, I would have come to the same conclusion. But it is also within GIMP preview dialogue that the translucent gradients are not shown. I made sure in a 2nd trial that the layers themselves _are_ shown. Regards Ralf ___ Gimp-user mailing list Gimp-user@lists.XCF.Berkeley.EDU https://lists.XCF.Berkeley.EDU/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user
[Gimp-user] Animations with translucent layers?
Hello all, for several times I managed to create animations witb Gimp 2.2. Especially nice are web animations (GIF) which are easily done with GIMP. Now, for the first time, GIMP's outcome is different from what I expect. Is it a feature or a bug that partly transparent layers are not shown in the animation preview box? I put an example to http://www.skolelinux.de/~ralf/artwork/animations/ Cheers Ralf ___ Gimp-user mailing list Gimp-user@lists.XCF.Berkeley.EDU https://lists.XCF.Berkeley.EDU/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user

[Gimp-user] Default settings for scaling images: high quality?
Dear List, sorry for possible duplications - I only subscribed today! When I resize images, I always use bicubic precision - unless I forget to change from "linear (low quality)". To avoid this, I'd prefer to have high quality scaling as default option. There must be a way, now? Thanks a lot.
