I just changed the line Style "*" NoPPosition into STyle "*" UsePPosition in my $HOME/.fvwm2rc. Now it works fine! Are we sure the user has not saved positions with the wm or set the window manager to ignore app requested positions? Active save and active / passive config set (default config are not what one expect sometimes) are reasons to see that. So the person with problems has to check Gimp config and wm config. GSR

Ok, so this is a problem of fvwm2? So decission chain from who has more power to less is X -> wm -> app. If you save position with window manager, then app will be unable to put window where it wants (and similar for size, colors and other things). No, I think not. Gimp should be able to place the windows itself. That just some kind of geometry setting, isn't it? Re: session managment?
I am pretty sure that the window manager can override the gimps windows. When my gimp window problems irritate me enough, that's where I am going to start, with the window manager. session managment?
Hi, I heard that Gimp has it's own session managment, i.e. the windows are placed at the same positions I placed them bevore I closed the gimp. This doesn't work on my computer (SuSE 7.0 and Gimp 1.2). What must I do to get it right? Thanks, Jan -- ETES - Espenhain & Theofel EDV-Systeme GbR Libanonstrasse 58 A * D-70184 Stuttgart Phone +49 711 4895550 * Fax +49 711 4809761 EMail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] --- URL: www.etes.de
session managment / brushes
Hello, I used the gimp version 1.1.27 and today i downloaded the version 1.1.29. In both versions, the session managment with the windows doesn't work on my computer. The option is enabled in the settings of course. I also tried to delete the actual settings, but that doesn't help. Another problem I have is that the brushes seem not to work correct. When I choose colored brushes they only work with teh colours, but arround I get a black area. Brushes with different gray values get completly black. Do I simply use Gimp wrong? Or are these bugs/features? My system: SuSE 7.0 XFree 4.x fvwm 2 Bye, Jan -- ETES - Espenhain & Theofel EDV-Systeme GbR ACHTUNG - NEUE ADRESSE! ACHTUNG - NEUE ADRESSE!
