Attention:
Some slideshow programs use EXIF-data to determine orientation and
rotate images automatically. If you only change orientation and leave
EXIF-data unaltered the rotated image will be presented in landscape
view as before.

Image -> Rotate -> XX Clockwise/Counter-clockwise, etc

You'd also have to change Layer Boundary Size. Just go to Layer and the option
is near the bottom. That'll fix the image getting cropped.
