Hey Michele, I'm now sure I understand "black lined color" so this may not be the answer you need, but if you are starting with black lines on a white background, changing only the color of the lines is easy: Make a new layer, and set its Layer Mode to Addition. Then, if you use the Paint tool on the new layer, the black lines (only) will change color when painted over. If the original layer's background is not quite white, adjusting it with with the Tools > Levels or Tools > Curves tool will fix that. If the original layer does have color content as well as the black lines, it can be removed. I would probably start by doing Colors > Desaturate, looking at the results of the different options and using whichever came closest to my desired result, then using the Curves tool to white-out all but the darkest pixels. (The Threshold tool will also work, but the Curves tool seems to give more precise results; ymmv.) If you want to use the Ripple filter on the lines (Filters > Distorts > Ripple) it would be best to do that before coloring them, or you /could/ apply the same distortion to the lines and colors layers after coloring the lines, or you could do Layers > New From Vislble and apply the ripple effect to the new layer. If these aren't the answers you need, give us some more details. :o) ___ gimp-user-list mailing list List address:gimp-user-list@gnome.org List membership: https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user-list List archives: https://mail.gnome.org/archives/gimp-user-list

Use the free selection tool and select the part of the line you want to change color. It does not have to be exact. 2. Right click in the selection, Colors->Map>Color exchange. [Gimp-user] Fatal error: unhandled exception
Since upgrading from 2.8 to 2.10 I'm getting occasional crashes on GIMP startup with the message: "fatal error: unhandled exception" (see screenshot). It happens on maybe 1 in 8 GIMP launches and when it does it then happens maybe 2 or 3 times in a row but then after that it launches OK until the next time. I've read some reports of incompatible plugins from older versions causing crashes so I uninstalled and manually deleted any GIMP-related folders/themes/plugins and did a completely clean install but it still happens from time to time. Any suggestions please? [Gimp-user] Fedora 28, RawTherapee, and GIMP 2.10 flatpak - install dir's??
Hi folks. So I'm having issues getting RawTherapee to find GIMP 2.10, on Fedora 28. Both apps are installed and working fine by themselves, but I'm guessing there's been changes to the directory structure for these flatpaks?? The checkbox for GIMP in RT, and none of my command lines are finding it. I made no special changes to install dir's, so wherever the default is, it should be there. Any help would be awesome, thanks! -- BlurryBits (via www.gimpusers.com/forums) ___ gimp-user-list mailing list List address:gimp-user-list@gnome.org List membership: https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user-list List archives: https://mail.gnome.org/archives/gimp-user-list
[Gimp-user] Can't Save my Work
>Feel free to do that, but it likely won't help :) > >Instead of complaining, we prefer if people try help to figure out what is responsible for the issues encountered - at the code level and/or in the build options, of either GIMP or its dependencies. I have tried to describe and report GIMP bugs before, but my last serious attempt ended with being told that I needed to run a debugger version and follow an onerous process to report. The days of my personally coding and/or my having the interest or patience in that are gone. And yet I treasure the memory from 1993, where the end result of my calling Microsoft support three or four times and spending literally about five hours on the phone with them ended in their admitting that I had discovered and demonstrated not one but two previously-unknown bugs in Word for Mac (must have been about version 5?). Not that they actually had a fix to make my large, heavily-formatted document work properly ... FWIW, for a variety of capability-related reasons, I've substantially migrated my pixel editing from GIMP to Affinity Photo. And I've found some bizarre errors there, too; see, e.g., https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/58706-affinity-photo-error-opening-tiff-grayscale-16-bit/. -- NAwlins_Contrarian (via www.gimpusers.com/forums) ___ gimp-user-list mailing list List address:gimp-user-list@gnome.org List membership: https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user-list List archives: https://mail.gnome.org/archives/gimp-user-list
[Gimp-user] Single pixel selection
Hello. When editing drawings, I often need to select specific areas to colorize or copy. I do this with combination of tools like "Free select", "Fuzzy select" & "Select by color". Often though there are individual pixels of varying colors scattered about that require being added or removed from the selection. The QuickMask is not so useful because the red color means I can't easily distinguish the pixels I am interested in.. I have to turn off the QuickMask to identify the pixel, turn it on to (de)select it etc. I've played with the QuickMask opacity and color, but it doesn't really help since typically these pixels are very close in color to the selection & background. I've tried a fixed size 1x1 Rectangular Select Tool, but this is clumsy since you have to drag to get the selection to start. It's also clumsy using the Free select tool to lasso a single pixel. Anything else I could try? If not, I will try to write a python plugin. I'm thinking of basing it on a fixed 1x1 Rectangular Select Tool... does this sound feasible/sensible? [Gimp-user] Need to remove grey border
I am trying to make the background of my logo transparent. I am able to do this but when I export as png to use the logo for email signature, advertising, etc it always shows with a thin grey line. The image is a single layer. How do i remove the grey border? [Gimp-user] Image Capture
Hi. Is there a simple method (not using inversion, etc) by which I can create a floating image of a book. I know it can be done but for the life of me, I can't figure it out. I would be so grateful for some help. I've attached an image. What I would like to be able to do is select the volume in the upper part of the image and have it be able to float on a black or white background. I should add that I know how to do the few things I need to know how to do on Gimp, but nothing beyond that. Thanks very much. [Gimp-user] Quicker way to audition fonts?
When I want to audition a font, I go to the text tool and select the text. Look to the left for the font box and click on the Aa to see all the fonts. The Aa is really not enough to tell whether I like the font. I then choose one and to view the result I need to deselect the text. I have to go through all that again to view a new font. It's very hard to choose a font just looking at the Aa. Has anyone put together a better font view where I can see a few words in every font, instead of the Aa? or is there a better quicker way to audition fonts? -- GerryPeters (via www.gimpusers.com/forums) ___ gimp-user-list mailing list List address:gimp-user-list@gnome.org List membership: https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user-list List archives: https://mail.gnome.org/archives/gimp-user-list
