Hi Anthony,

A while ago, I write an explanation about all this and provided a list of
workarounds:

For your sanity, I would suggest skipping the comments section though :)

Hello

Thanks for the reply,

To answer your question I have been using Gimp now for 6 years Professionally
and at some point, you know exactly what you need and use. I guess in some way I
also just love customizing my things on my PC. (Example: Got rid of the shortcut
arrow on desktop apps by changing the registry ^^).

Anyways thank you for your reply and have an awesome day.

Thank you :)

I will give ít a shot, it would be my first time using such a tool and I
wouldn't know where to start, I am sure google will be my friend.

At this point a feel a bit silly for even trying all of this ^^

Hope all is well

No need to delete anything, renaming the script so it does end in .scm stops
Gimp loading it and it is still there if needed in the future.

A better way is investigate using a resources manager where scripts can be
loaded as required. Would need a bit of work to move stock scripts out into a
User folder but is possible.

A resources manager? - one here - addonCollectionManager-3.0.py -
http://sourceforge.net/projects/gimp-tools/files/scripts/ about 40 down the
list.

[Gimp-user] Installing guides Lab (.)py

2018-11-17 Thread knowthyself
Hello

My problem is I wanted to install a plugin called Guides Lab.

I have installed many Plugins in the past but I can not seem to get this one
working. On the website, he said it should work and others have confirmed.

I have tried the Data folder and the programs files folder as well... but does
not seem to be working.

On the gimp start screen, even one of the files seems to be loading in but it
doesn't show up under Images -> Guides -> Lab Guides.

Anything silly I am doing wrong?

Best guess with that and considering the date. The first stable windows Gimp
2.10 was 64 bit only, used python 2.7.5 (64bit)

that works: see screenshot

The current dual 64/32 Windows installer uses python 2.7.15 (32bit) for both
'flavours' - some python scripts do not work, unfortunately that includes
guides-lab.

[Gimp-user] Export and scale down at the same time

2018-11-17 Thread Johnny Rosenberg via gimp-user-list
Hi again!

I'm currently working with a huge image, 19262×12825, and now when I
finished it I want to export it as jpeg. In the export dialogue, I can
easily change the quality, and since the image is maybe 95 % white I can
select a very low quality number and still keep a decent quality, but the
file size is still at least 5 MiB.
The high resolution is not necessary at all. The reason for having it in
the first place is that I scanned an A2 document with an A4 scanner four
times and put it together in GIMP and I used the scanner's highest
resolution; I figured it's best to have the best possible resolution to
work with and then scale it down as the last step of the process.
Anyway, to save it, scaled down to, I don't know, maybe 20 % or even 10, I
first need to scale down the whole file, then export and then undo the
down-scaling (or quit without saving), or is there an easier way? I wish
there was a scale option in the jpeg quality dialogue or in a separate
dialogue, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
Am I missing something?

Kind regards

Re: [Gimp-user] Export and scale down at the same time

2018-11-17 Thread Pat David via gimp-user-list
I agree that a scale option in the export menu would certainly be handy,
but it comes with its own set of problems - like which type of scaling
algorithm to use? The different algorithms may produce different results
depending on what is being exported - so I _think_ it may be smarter to try
the one that makes sense for your particular image, then export and
undo/not-save.

Not sure if this has been requested as a feature or not, but if not it
might be worth asking.

[Gimp-user] Hello!

2018-11-17 Thread Tim Even via gimp-user-list
I have a life long interest in photography. The Ilford Manual of
Photography and the books by Ansel Adams and his zone system set my
standards for documentation. I program in Scheme (and C when I have
too).

GIMP models the photographic process more or less well depending upon
the quality of it's documentation. That said I am particularly
interested in the mathematical underpinnings of your "Digital
photography improvements". Perhaps y'all can point me in the right
direction.

Thanks!
