It's an older gimp version. I hope the gmic vs. gimp issue will be fixed

I upgraded gmic to 2.0.0 from gmic.eu and the problem remains. Tried

Anyone else seeing this? I'll report a bug to GMIC, but I thought I'd

There have been a number of 'fails' in the last few days, both Gimp and
dependencies. Keep checking here until there is a good build.

https://launchpad.net/~otto-kesselgulasch/+archive/ubuntu/gimp-edge

I compile a 'portable' an appimage from there and also a gmic compiled against
the gimp 2.9.5 code and Gimp 2.9.5 / gmic-2 from about 15th Jan works ok.
screenshopt attached.

It works.

I try to build "downgrades" to
https://git.gnome.org/browse/gimp/commit/?id=00faf1796535ca63402f53b687ae96dbcbca,
and I will wait for a solution of the issues before I publish recent
Gimp 2.9.5 versions.

[Gimp-user] gmic with otto repo not working?

2017-01-18 Thread rich2005
A bit more digging, The aim, to update my appimage.

I use Kubuntu 16.04 (Xenial) and the latest Gimp 2.9.5 build failed for that,
but not for Yakkety. So I my installation has not updated and I can not compare
like-with-like.

Looking at the Gmic pre-release downloads, I always go for the zips rather than
a deb package, and apart from the regular gimp_gmicXX.zip there is a
gmic_gimp_yakkety64.zip , very small 2.1k, only contains a readme file.
Obviously not the version you are using.

However, the last issue, 12 Jan, gimp_gmic64.zip unpacks to gmic-gimp2 (6.9M)
and that does work here in Kubuntu 16.04

Rather than gmic, it could be the latest Gimp 2.9.5 Back to wait a couple of
days for a new update.

to some interaction of Kubuntu with gmic.

I tried a few of the AppImages from pixls.us, and I tried my normal

worked. Even the AppImages that pre-dated my problem by months (gmic
1.7.5, etc) still didn't work. Some of them worked slightly better,
but then I would free-select a region and run gmic and get the same
crash.

I have a Kubuntu VM I'm going to experiment with a little and I'll let
you know if I find anything interesting.

Incidentally, I also tried the recent Win 8.1 version from Partha

win. :-)

For a few minutes I've installed the lastest stable version - 1.7.9 -
from my "official" repo, and surprise, surprise it crashes. I hope
today's Gimp 2.9.5 version will close this issue.
