Re: [Gimp-user] Source of photos
Just as another option for PC, Mac, or Linux is XnView/XnViewMP. It's a great image viewer/organizer/converter and would use it regardless, but you can configure multiple programs to open an image in and then access them by shortcuts. When I find an image I want to open in gimp I just hit "Alt+1" and it opens gimp if not already open, or opens image in a new tab. It also has the added benefit of decent support for xcf thumbnails so you can browse your gimp files, and it's free for personal use. Maybe it'd make a good add-on. the GNOME file chooser will display thumbnails and you can drag them into GIMP to open the image. In the gnome image viewer (depending on gnome version) you can also tag images and select images by tag. There's also Shotwell, a photo manager for Linux systems. Re: [Gimp-user] Source of photos
GIMP doesn’t really have any sort of photo management functionality built in (not should it in my opinion). You could try a photo manager like digiKam. I had a friend play with both the iPhone images and the camera images using Lightroom. Would it be ok if I uploaded both the RAW (KDC) images and the ones she edited to get a better idea of what enlargement IS possible? I’m at the point where even if I cannot use it for the 48x24 size it’s too beautiful to not do something with it! I appreciate any help! While this is an "improvement" for some operations (for mantiuk06, it's hard to argue that the GEGL result isn't more "correct", although stylistically I prefer the "wrong" result in some cases), for many others it ranges from dubiously, to *definitely*, worse. In particular, stress tends to produce a washed-out result. (I mention this mainly because it is my impression that gimp 2.10 behaves the same was as GEGL CLI, though it sounds as if there is an option to control this. PLEASE KEEP THAT OPTION!) At any rate, the literal answer to my question is: gegl -o \ cast-format input-format="R'G'B' u8" output-format="RGB u8" \ \ cast-format input-format="RGB u8" output-format="R'G'B' u8" ...which does indeed produce the same results as gimp (2.8). \o/ -- Matthew ___ gimp-user-list mailing list List address:gimp-user-list@gnome.org List membership: https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user-list List archives: https://mail.gnome.org/archives/gimp-user-list
[Gimp-user] Source of photos
Hello: In Lightroom I was able to have a "directory" to choose from such as Vacation 2017, or Vacation 2018. The pictures in these folders were indexed down the left side of the screen. Stored in a separate hard drive. Does Gimp have a similar directory, even though the photos are stored in a separate hard drive? [Gimp-user] Selecting an image
Hello: New to Gimp. I am able to select only one image at a time. When I was using Lightroom, all the images of different photos appear across the bottom of the screen in a scroll effect, sort of like a preview. Is there a way to preview my photos before I edit one? [Gimp-user] RAW loaders for 2.10
Hi, I still have problems to select a RAW loader with Gimp-2-GIT (branch gimp-2-10) on Gentoo Linux If I click on Edit -> Preference -> Image Import & Export I do see ${gimp_plugin_in_dir}/plug-ins/nufraw-gimp But when I click on it, it gets greyed out and seems to be get ignored since loading a RAW image shows a pop-up window "RAw Photo Loader 1.1.20 - 16 September 2008" and on the console I see that it invokes 'dcraw'. Furthermore, I have Darktable and Rawtherapee installed here, neither of which shows up in the menu mentioned above. P.S. nufraw, darktable and rawtherapee are all current GIT version Many thanks for a hint, Helmut ___ gimp-user-list mailing list List address:gimp-user-list@gnome.org List membership: https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user-list List archives: https://mail.gnome.org/archives/gimp-user-list
[Gimp-user] Using GIMP with Windows Live Photo Gallery....
Hello, To date I have used Windows Live Photo Gallery on Windows 10. I have purchased a new laptop, running Windows 10, with increased capacity for storing and editing my photo's. My question is this: Does GIMP work in alongside with Windows Live Photo Gallery or should I remove the Windows Live Photo facility and only run GIMP ? Thank you. Well, I don't think I have a shitty camera, although it is not an $800 one. It's a Kodak Easyshare. Before you groan, for as much as I use it, and understand it, it was at the right pricepoint. I also have images from that camera that are in the RAW (extension of KDC) format that I have no way of doing anything with. Plus, I don't like the ones from the camera as well as the one from the iPhone. Thank you for your input - you clearly have a great eye for detail!
