[Gimp-user] brush size controls?
Hi! I've just tried the RC1 and so far I'm loving the new brush engine. I've got a little question though. What's the fastest way to change the brush size with a tablet? The [ and ] hotkeys work, but they change the brush size one pixel at a time which means that when you're working at print resolutions, it can take even 30 seconds just to change your brush size to what you want. There's a Set brush size command listed in the keyboard shortcut menu, but binding it to a key and using it doesn't seem to do anything. Using the slider hidden in the tool options menu is always an option, but it breaks the flow of painting. /me dreams of a Blender-style brush size changer, or a ZBrush or Sculptris style handy popup essentials menu. -- MadMinstrel (via gimpusers.com) ___ gimp-user-list mailing list gimp-user-list@gnome.org http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user-list
[Gimp-user] Tool switching and preset troubles
Hi. I've been doing some painting and texturing with gimp recently and it's working out nicely for me. However, I don't understand how to switch tools correctly. It seems tool presets are the highest level since they can remember brush size, brush alpha, tool settings, blend type and so on. It seems like they're the way to go for tool switching. However, the keyboard shortcuts are only for switching /tools/. So each time I go from brush to eraser i have to spend time adjusting the size and the brush at minimum. Is there a way to assign keys to presets instead of tools? Also two other related questions: How can I either get rid of all the brush, tool, dynamic and palette presets that are uneditable? They're driving me nuts, just making my own presets difficult to find, and if I select one of them, I can't edit it. Alternatively, making them editable (and therefore deletable from the UI) would work too. How can I make the presets auto-save every change I make after that preset was selected? Alternatively, can I assign a shortcut to save the last used preset? -- MadMinstrel (via gimpusers.com) ___ gimp-user-list mailing list gimp-user-list@gnome.org https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user-list
[Gimp-user] channels to layers?
How do I quickly separate an image's channels into grayscale layers? I'll need to do this frequently, so is there an automated way? If there isn't, can it be done with python scripting? Would it take me a long time to learn how to write such a script assuming I know a bit of Python (as used in Blender), but haven't done any scripting with GIMP? -- MadMinstrel (via gimpusers.com) ___ gimp-user-list mailing list gimp-user-list@gnome.org https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user-list

I expected something like that to be in the channels dock, but of course couldn't find it there.
