Re: [Gimp-user] Slow performance of GIMP with OS X Version 10.11.6

2016-08-13 Thread Alan Huntley
Yep, same here on my relatively new iMac running OS X 10.11.6 and GIMP
2.8.18. My issue is mostly with redraw speed of the preview following any
editing change. I tried all sorts of techniques to try and speed things
up--like changing file cache size, etc--all to no avail. My understanding
is that these speed hits are a very common thing with GIMP 2.8 on Mac. I'd
be very interested to hear details, if you're successful in speeding things
up.

Btw, I've read that Partha's (www.partha.com) 2.9 build may not have this
issue, though I haven't tried it myself, and that 2.10 when it arrives
should resolve thishopefully.

Partha,

Thanks for the info...I didn't know that, but certainly makes sense now
that you say it and I stop and think about it for 2 seconds. Any external
executable would have to be linked in with the GIMP executable to work
properly. Duh on my part! :)

I just learned of your website yesterday and will definitely be taking a
look.

HD/Users//Library/Application Support/GIMP/2.8/plug-ins

Which is where I believe it's supposed to live on Mac. Is that the correct
location?

[Gimp-user] Color Decompose Script

2016-08-05 Thread Alan Huntley
Hello,

New user to GIMP and I just installed the Color Decompose script by
patdavid from the registry. When I run it, it seems to be working as
expected, but then I get the following error message:

GIMP Message

Execution error for 'Color Decompose':
Error: ( : 2) Procedure execution of plug-in-decompose failed.

Then, when I click "OK" I get the following:

GIMP Message

Plug-in 'Color Decompose' left image undo
in inconsistent state, closing open undo
groups.

Clicking "OK", again, I'm left with the following layers: RGB - Red, RGB -
Green, RGB - Blue, HSV - Value, HSL - Lightness, CMYK - K, and LAB - L. So,
it seems that the script is doing what it's supposed to. Why the error
messages? Can I do something to not get those errors? Running GIMP 2.8.18

Thank you.

[Gimp-user] Change Left/Right Panel Color

2014-04-17 Thread A. Huntley

Hello All:

I'm new to GIMP and trying to setup the interface the way I'd prefer;
don't like the rather bright white color of the image window, toolbox
and dialog panels when the program first opens up. I tried searching the
archives to find an answer to my question without any success. Therefore...

After looking through various preference options, I finally found how to
change the padding color for the image window, however, I cannot see if
it's possible to change the toolbox panel (left side) and dialog panels
(right side) to something other than white. Since my image window
(padding) is now set to a very dark gray, I'd like to set the
toolbox/dialog panels to something like a medium gray. Is this possible?
How?

Thank you for any help provided.

Regards,
AlanH
