Re: [Gimp-user] What Features you want in GIMP (Crowdfunding)
I just wanted to spread the word about freedomsponsors.org in that regard: http://freedomsponsors.org/core/issue/?s=project_id=130project_name=GIMP http://freedomsponsors.org/core/issue/?s=project_id=125project_name=GEGL+%28the+new+GIMP+engine%29 There are users who have put bounties on several bugs and features - I think it is a great way for gimp users to show their support for the voluntary team. The best thing is that anyone who wants to do so can easily sign up for a bug and do the necessary work to receive the bounties (provided the solution lives up to people's requirements). You can also propose to work on a bug/feature there - and you don't really have to have an account, just sign up through Google/BitBucket/Github/twitter/yahoo. Just thought I would share. With the hpotetical money they could raise, they could easily get more manpower to 1.-Finish their longterm goals faster (I am looking at you gimp 2.) 2.-Implement the changes they want 3.-Implement new improvements and feautures we want. If hypotethically the gimp team accepted a kickstarter/crowdfunding effort, wich feautres would you want the most. Pleas post area and idea example Painting/ More brush dynamics and control. Photography/antiblur tool (I just made that up) The goal is to give the gimp team an idea of what they could focus on provided they ever accept crowdfunding as on one email I sent them there was the issue on deciding wich features to focus on. Re: [Gimp-user] Funding a Microsoft developer
Hi Steve, On Wed, 2013-04-03 at 13:38 -0400, Steve Kinney wrote: Hey, I wonder if it would be a good thing to do a Kickstarter type of campaign, to raise money to hire a developer to work on integrating the GIMP with Microsoft platforms, or to put bounties on solutions for specific bugs/issues? Have you heard of the website called FreedomSponsors? I think it is an excellent place to put bounties on solutions for bugs, issues and features. There is currently three bugs open for GIMP with bounties on: http://www.freedomsponsors.org/core/issue/?s=project_id=130project_name=GIMP If a developer were up for working on integrating GIMP with Microsoft platforms, he could propose to work on a bug over at freedomsponsors similar to how Nicolas Robidoux did: http://www.freedomsponsors.org/core/issue/78/add-other-samplers-that-properly-reduce-downsample-and-warp-images Just thought I wanted to chime in about that. :-) Bastian ___ gimp-user-list mailing list gimp-user-list@gnome.org https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user-list
Re: [Gimp-user] Video tutorials
When I started out, I followed Meet The GIMP postcasts, starting from episode 1. The version of GIMP used in the first episodes are quite old, but the in the big picture, the basic way of doing things still apply. http://blog.meetthegimp.org/table-of-contents/ Good luck!
