[Gimp-user] Editing your photos in Gimp

2013-02-04 Thread DaviesMediaDesign
the only thing that could (maybe) confuse people that see your video
is that the color balance is giving different results now in gimp 2.8
than it was in gimp 2.6. So if someone tries it with the same photo
he'll not get the same outcome.
Hmm yeah that could be a problem. Thanks for the heads up!

Yeah 2.8 is still a good program but I just got way too accustomed/attached to
the way everything is laid out in 2.6. If they came out with a version of Gimp
that incorporated properties found in Illustrator, like scalable vector
graphics, I would make the switch.

This sounds like a job for... Inkscape!

Depending on the kind of work you do - and especially if you have
found Illustrator useful - it might be very beneficial to have both
Inkscape and the GIMP installed. Relatively speaking, Inkscape's
bitmap editing capabilities and the GIMP's vector editing
capabilities are rudimentary.

:o)

I have recently uploaded a tutorial onto my Youtube account
(DaviesMediaDesign) on the basics of photo editing. I think a lot of
you beginners out there will find this tutorial very useful, and the
rest of you experts could still learn a thing or two!

Thanks for checking it out! There are certain functions in 2.6 that I find more
fluent in my opinion- like the text editing, image scaling, and some of the
other manipulation features. Perhaps I'm just used to the 2.6 interface.
