It's just a matter of perspective. Things that make no sense to you make a
perfect sense to others, and vice versa.

Why not pay them for their hard work? why we don't pay for developers
to work
in open source like GIMP as if it was a job?. Gimp is an will always be
free but
Why we not as users pay to have developers work on this proyect?

Again, a matter of perspective. Also, a matter of background. Not every
team is ready to do the paperwork, the coordination work etc. Not every
team thinks that having community as a boss is a great idea. Not every team
has developers available for full-time work. Some developers go as far as
refusing to accept donations altogether.

I think one day we as fans of gimp should have this option. To pay
developers to
 work fro GIMP

The future will show :) Personally, I agree with you on quite a few pointa.
But at the same time I respect the team's view that centralized paid work
is not a good idea at this time.

I reckon I was too concise. I meant that that stress upon the money does
not tell you the whole story. Free is about freedom. Often
developers asked no money but just programming help. IMHO money (usually)
just leads to diverge projects from the useful to the marketing / popular
/ fashion requests and that seriously hurts free projects
like GIMP. There is a reason why althought so few the free
developers produce such high quality software: they have no bosses.
They decide on their own. This behaviour is not error free but usually
produce far more efficient, better and error free code.

Compare the results with so many 24h programmers Adobe Photoshop
sports and how trementulsy efficients are GIMP devs.

I know that GIMP devs are on average smarter than Adobe ones ;-) but that
does not explain this fact. I believe freedom is smarter and the
only way to keep it smart is staying away from money.
You COULD introduce money but you have to do it without constrains, and
IMHO this is a very difficoult thing to do.
I myself have no idea on how it could be done.

Please. forgive my bad english.

All I can say is that as long as progs. like PhotoShop cost as much as they do,
I'll be sticking to the completely free stuff that the generous developers of
the world are putting out. They have my gratitude, if not my money (can't
afford it).

Yes we all know the ideal that GNU and open source is to remove the power from
evil and greedy corporations and give true freedom to the people. But the truth
is that ... many professionals and people foreign to the opensource ideals
still prefer any paid software.

Call people like adobe greedy for creative cloud as much as you want but the
truth is having money gives you power and people are willing to pay the
overpriced photoshop because regardless of the pricetag is a quality software
worth the price and because many people would rather pay for something that
works rather to use something free that doesn't. (I am not talking about GIMP)

Software like photoshop, acorn ,corel painter sketchbook pro etc have
professionals that work at least 8 hours a day to create a quality product.

I love gimp and I admire what the developers do (seriously working for free and
give us something so amazing) You guys rock!.

But let's stop kidding ourselves that unpaid software will match private
software anytime soon. not becuase Gimp developers aren't extremely talented but
becuase they simply can't work on this full time.

Why rely on the free time of talented developers and donations (aka pay when
you feel like it that nobody uses?.

Why not pay them for their hard work? why we don't pay for developers to work
in open source like GIMP as if it was a job?. Gimp is an will always be free but
Why we not as users pay to have developers work on this proyect?

The software itself might be free but the hard work it costs to make has a
value and ergo isn't free.

Think of the GEGL transition. Wouldn't we already be done with some extra paid
work?.

I think one day we as fans of gimp should have this option. To pay developers to
work fro GIMP

Have a nice day!
