thank you for reporting this.
Depending on exactly where the program crashes, losing your tool options can
surely be a side effect of a crash. If you have a set of default options
you use quite often, you can keep them. Open Edit/Preferences/Tool Options
and press the 'Save tool

I am having trouble recovering the tool options I set. This could be
the result of the fact that I've been exporting images, and, when I do,
gimp crashes.So it could be that although I try to save the options,
they are not actually saved because of the crash.
