Government contractors must follow a mil spec for digital storage of technical
drawings. The common term is "blueprint," but that word is actually used
specifically for the old ammonia-stenched physical paper dimensioned drawings.
The modern-day term is "Drawing," and

I'd like to point out two recent mails from this list:
Thanks - the issue I could find in this forum was around OS X and indicating the
issue wasn't so much with GIMP as with OS X core services.

I very much enjoyed the precise description of your problem and the reasons
behind needing a good TIFF conversion. Tiff is also a very handy format for
working on art or photographs in the graphic design field, which is my

I went through and cleaned a whole load of fonts out of my Windows 8 system -
including a lot of system fonts. That change is not reflected in GIMP, which
persists in showing me the old system fonts including the non-western languages,
which, being a Westerner, I do not use. I can confirm that
Export images to PNG which supports transparency:
1. Put your images on a layer above the white base layer. (I assume you are
creating the images.)
2. Crop out the excess background to just the image.
3. Delete the base layer. Your image should be floating above a
checkerboard, indicating

No, this is not what you were informed about.

I am assembling several .jpg images into one file for a sheet of stickers. How
do I get the background (which is white on everything) not to cover any of the
