Just started playing with GIMP on debian and found the wavelet
plugin. Took a while to get it to build but when I finally
did thought this may be a useful platform for experimenting
with ideas I've had for a while. I guess my question is
does anyone use GIMP for algorithm development?

Regarding backups I wrote a script http://registry.gimp.org/node/14246
that makes a backup xcf file with the same name and date plus time
appended. If you bind it to a key (that is what I do) it is very quick
to save a working copy every now and then.
