[Gimp-user] gimp run problem - resubmitted

2008-09-10 Thread Bettinson Ian

Hi,

I am having problems after installing gimp 2.4 using the package manager
on an Acer Aspire One running Linpus Linux Lite.

When I try to run the application I get the following error message:

---

Libgimp version mismatch!

The GIMP binary cannot run with a libgimp version
other than its own. This is GIMP 2.4.0, but the
libgimp version is 2.4.6.

Maybe you have GIMP versions in both /usr and /usr/local ?

---

How do I solve this as I am a new user to Linux and the netbook?

Cheers,

Ian

The error message is telling you the most likely cause of your problem. You
have installed two different versions of GIMP in under the same directory tree
(/usr and /usr/local).

Since you have 2.4.6 installed, you don't need to keep version 2.4.0 so just
delete that. Better still, delete both versions and install the most recent
2.4.7 version.
